Had an idea!

I wonder how much the Euro falling 50% in its value against the USD has contributed to their inflation. Gotta think they're getting hammered buying US energy right now compared to a year ago.

I'm not sure what you mean. The UK's inflation rate is 9.1% and the EU overall is at 8.6% which is right in line with the US (9.1%) and Canada (haven't released June's data yet, but likely a bit over 8%).
And energy prices haven't climbed more sharply in Europe. For June, energy was up by 41.9% YoY in the EU, whereas in the US it was up by 41.6%.

For ####s and giggles it would be cool to see in an alternate universe what would happen to this country if the Green party was granted a majority government.

The magic is that they fart whatever our atmosphere needs most at the time.

We kind of did, not really, but probably the closest we will get. The Alberta NDP pre-election was just to the right of the green party; though their platform was more to use Oil & Gas revenue to diversify the economy.
A lot of their policies shift to the center-left or centrist viewpoint once they got into power. You can't run a stable government at odds with almost all of the citizens.

Guess you have to have a sense of humour to vote NDP.

Nat gas is up 5x in Europe, vs. near 2x in North America.

The Green Party is ridiculous. But is that any worse than the parties that buckled to industry and kept the status quo that put us in this situation?
I’ve said before we won’t fix climate change but I think those who benefited from denying it existed should be paying for its outcome.

That depends what time frame you're talking about. June 2021 to June 2022 is more like 3-3.5x higher in Europe vs 2x in the US.
And there's a lot more to energy than just natural gas. Look at the data for yourself. EU CPI data is here and US data is here.

Of course. That’s why I’m pro carbon tax. We gained prosperity because of cheap, abundant fossil fuels and that’s not going to stop any time soon.
The diseminators of climate misinformation should have to pay a lot more though. We should have been seriously investing in renewable energy and climate capture and storage technology decades sooner.

The answer to your question is an emphatic yes. Without question. Things can get way, way, way worse. Careful what you wish for, and watch it have almost no discernible change to environmental conditions or climate change.

The question was rhetorical but yeah, the Greens are not a reasonable party.
