I was browsing the Kings forum where the fans were speculating their chances of defeating our Flames in a best of 7 series. Ignoring the chickens and eggs before hatched aspect, I found this quote interesting.

I'd assume so? Brown for sure, and I guess really they are down the core 3 or 4 from his time

I can't tell if he's mellowed or not, but he's a heck of coach but seems to leave his imprint on some to be sure

watching him here (both times) as a coach - I don't think it's a stretch to say that he deserves alot of credit for the rings on their fingers though

and then you have a guy like Trevor Lewis (different type of player/on the pecking order) who gladly signed on for more

Hoping this game ends with a Mike Smith flop, a McDavid eyeroll, and a non-star player being made the sacrificial lamb before being moved in the off season to a team where he actually finds success. Would be lovely if they could stay on-brand like that.

And another strong leadership moment with McDavid and a recreation of the Lets go moment in time.

Then him and Draisaitl getting into a punch up in the dressing room while Smith blames his defense.

I think this is an interesting discussion. Good point on Trevor Lewis, but a player like that may not have had many options.

Would a guy like Brown acknowledge they might have the the 2 Cups or would they take more of the credit themselves.

Darryl doesn't have the need to be liked that a lot of us do, that much is obvious.

Kopitar and Brown certainly do not have 2 rings if it is not for Sutter.

In addition the Kings may present a similar challenge as Dallas in how they play but the Flames can play that game. The Oilers have lost 3 because they seem to forget their structure every now and then and old habits die hard. Sutter has not allowed the Flames to deviate from their foundation and I don’t see that happening any time soon.

I like the fact that the Oiler fans are banking on the theory that the Flames have the weakest opponents in the playoffs, and if it was the Oilers and Stars the series would be over by now.

Nope . . . sorry Oiler idiots. LA still hasn't gotten great goaltending and LA still plays a pretty sloppy game in their own end. If the Oilers would have the Dallas with their shut down play and insane goaltending I think the Oilers season would have been over by now.

Absolute guy check time for the Oil. They are loading up the McDrai line which will either work well for them or make them even easier to defend by putting all their eggs in one basket.

This game has the feel of Smith falling apart to emphasize to everyone how Holland failed to address his goaltending (despite Smith playing very well in these playoffs).

Main difference would be the goalie. Quick isn't going to play like Oettinger.

LA has last change as well, so this might actually help them. Just limit that line and make McDingleberry’s life miserable, and I like the Kings’ chances of closing out the series. They’ll need another strong game from Quick as well.

Yeah, I expect there's a good chance Quick will need to show that cup-winner pedigree tonight. Fortunately, he's a guy who has shown up in big games to close out rounds before many times.

Quick has the head for it. The question is whether or not, at 36, he has the legs.

How do we know that ? We didnt expect it from Oettinger, rookie with a SP of .914 this year...

With their season on the line, the Edmonton Oilers are reuniting Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Here’s one. Game 5. Series tied. Overtime. The captain is apparently the fastest skater ever and the crossovers…. He could have back checked or disrupted or anything more than he did. Instead, he gives it the old 1 half stride at the blue line and the rest is coasting. “Defence to blame.”

Playoff hockey can be a battle of attrition. As someone else posted, how is Mavi a leader? Do as I say not as I do?

I’m expecting Darnell nurse type minutes tonight. I wouldn’t be surprised if we added both of their ice times tonight that it isn’t greater than 60 minutes.

Oh yeah…go kings go!
