If Ottawa wants Stone, make the trade!!! 3.5 M is too much for a struggling depth defenceman. I know they don’t have a 2nd or 3rd, but what about Nick Paul (a prospect) or Pageau? Please not Zach Smith.
Also, interesting take on Hamilton for Trocheck above. 75 points in 82 games with really tough minutes and a below average shooting percentage is very impressive. I can understand why it would be extremely difficult to consider trading Trocheck.

I would immediately lose what faith I have left in management if we acquired zack Smith. Pretty much guarantees no pitch for tavares lol

Ryan's contract is just so bad, it scares me.
I'm hoping the floodgates open here today, I think a lot of it hinges on JT's decision + Kovalchuk

About 2 million would be fine if you believe he can be a 50 point forward. But yeah its not without risk because of his 4 year term.

This is what i am saying. Its not his skill its his current playing situation that pushes him out farther. Best case is he plays next year. All other guys can make an impact this playing season.

Yeah he and Kovalchuk are really slowing everything down. Make up your minds already.

Bobby Ryan is interesting if Ottawa is willing to eat 40%-50% that wouldn't be bad. Also with Burke not being here anymore it could happen.

He has a modified no trade clause. He can list 10 teams he won't go to. Edmonton is sure to be on that list.

I don't see a fit.
Florida is looking for a top4 defensive D and Brodie isn't that. They'd probably only be interested in Gio and that's obviously a no go.

I might be a pessimist in this, but I think this will be a slow draft day trade wise. There is seemingly very little "definitive" trade talk and between Tavares, Carlson and EK (none of which are likely to resolve today), there seems to be a lot jam. Would definitely like to be wrong as I tend to nerd out for this day, but I am feeling a bit skeptical.

Plus, I don't think the Panthers really need either of Hamilton or Brodie. Matheson is already a better defender than Brodie and his offense is nearly on par. Yandle is a smaller and less physical than Hamilton who is more of a playmaker than a goal scorer, but the players are relatively comparable.
|
Thanks for the interesting take on a team I don’t follow at all. I hadn’t noticed that Yandle at 31 5v5 points and 56 overall points last year. That’s incredibly impressive for a player starting very often in the defensive zone against difficult opposition and with a below average shooting percentage. How did FLA get him again?

So.
Hamilton for Hanifin and Lindholm
Stone, Fox, Frolik, Brouwer for Ryan and Karlsson (no extension... yet)
Hanifin-Karlsson
Gio-Brodie
Kulak-Andersson
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Backlund-Lindholm
Jankowksi-Bennett-Ryan
Mangiapane-Shore-Foo
Boom.

Pure UFA signing. They needed someone with experience and offensive skills after the departure of Brian Campbell.

Lol!! Respect! I can't see it happening, but I like what you have done. Might be cap hell when it comes time to re-up Karlsson, Tkachuck and Lindholm.

5th defenseman, college prospect, 3rd line rw, bloated contract for arguably the best defenseman in the league? Boom indeed.

Looks like the Phaneuf trade. There is value in taking on BR and his contract.

Not sure you'd get a 2nd, but maybe you could get the Pen's 3rd and Ott's 5th for him if he has value to their relationship with the other Stone.
Would be nice to get that done, promote Andersson and have
3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7 in a draft
looks a little better

Whoops. Was so focused on dropping Stone to make room for Andersson that I forgot Hamonic.
