Pats open as 5.5 point favourites?

Eagles not getting enough respect.

Sounds about right. They've got to get people betting on the Eagles.

I'd take Philly +5.5

I actually think there Patriots should have had a few more calls and didn't think anything was obviously over the top. I didn't like the play being blown dead on that turnover and that is definitely a rule that needs to adjusted.

I may not say the same thing in two weeks when my Eagles play them but I think the Patriots conspiracy theories get blown out of proportion. As a football fan how do you not like watching Brady operate?

You have literally compared the 2 most opposite things in the history of sports.

On one hand you've got the most futile team in NHL history worthy of absolutely no praise at all only mockery and ridicule.

On the other hand you have the most dominant professional sports franchise in arguably the league hardest to dominate of the modern era.

One has completely deserved every single bit of circle jerking they get.

It will be interesting seeing how Kase Keenum fares in free agency. He's going to get a really good contract but is he a franchise QB or a guy that's just good enough to win games behind the top defense in the league? I tend to think he's more a journeyman guy like Josh McCown that can win in the right situation but in a situation where the QB is relied on to carry the team will disappoint.

I dislike the Patriots as much as anyone seeing their first Super Bowl was due to the tuck rule abomination as that Super Bowl was the Raiders for the taking and I do agree the officiating was curious yesterday. The Jaguars only committed five DPI calls all season which was lowest in the league and got two called against them. I personally believe that both of those calls were legitimate especially the 2nd one which was blatant. That said they were the lowest penalized defense in football so for them to get eight penalties called against them for almost 100 yards while the Patriots just one (fewest in a playoff game since 2011) probably begs some investigation especially when there were several plays where they contacted Jaguars receivers before the ball arrived that looked like clear pass interference to me. Not going to call it a conspiracy but that officiating crew did a pretty poor job IMO of calling a balanced game as there's no doubt one team got away with more than the other.

^^The issue with that is, as you said, those two PI calls were probably correct (especially the second one), and there were some other ones that could have been called on the Jags that weren't. I think the officials were mostly letting them play. Jack had a hit on Brady that I've seen flagged as late in other games.

The Jags D completely imploded in the 4th quarter and that offense went way too conservative. When I'm calling out your plays from my couch before you run them, I can be damn sure that BB knows what's coming.

I think the Eagles matchup well with the Pats but Brady vs. Foles is obviously a huge difference than Keenum vs. Foles and I think BB will have his defense ready to stop the quick reads and RPOs that the Eagles need for Foles to be successful.

Since 2000, the Patriots have been the model franchise. Other than Hoodie and Brady they've had 100% turnover and yet year after year after year after year they are competitive. 8 Super Bowl appearances, 11 Conference championships. That's absurd.

They have set the standard for greatness and so frankly I'm surprised they don't get fellated more.

And to those suggesting conspiracy. This is a franchise who lost their QB for 4 games based on some bull#### "deflategate" garbage that cost them draft picks as well. Goodell ain't doing these guys any favours.

My issue is that this isn't hockey. You can't let them play in football as you can't complete passes with defenders on your back and there were two plays off the top of my head on key 3rd down throws where Pats defenders were on the backs of the TE Lewis. I just didn't see a team that committed only one penalty in that game as the Pats definitely benefitted from the officiating.

They may have benefited from a couple of calls but not enough to swing the game.

Disagree. Both the PI's would have at least put them in field goal range not to mention they were on 3rd down which would have negated the punt. And the missed holding on the pats 3rd down likely would have resulted in a punt. Which led to their second last TD of the game. Those are game changing calls that were not made.

Terrible officiating on those 3 plays. Especially with the ticky tack calls going on Jacksonville.

Forget the PI calls, blowing the whistle early on the Lewis fumble almost certainly cost the Jags a touchdown and a 27-10 lead. After watching the replay several times, it's truly an inexplicable whistle. Game changing mistake by the refs.

That one is actually a legitimate gripe.
