Jagr is 49 points away from passing Gretzky's assist totals, hope he can do it, would be the first player in NHL history! Also assuming he plays Saturday and doesn't miss another game he will pass Gordie Howe for most games played in the NHL on the road in Nashville on Feb 15th. Would love to see him do it the following Saturday Feb 17th at home against his old club Florida.
It really puts things into context.
Gretzky has 1963 assists alone. Jagr is within reach of 1963 total points for 2nd. Then you add in Gretzky's 894 goals.

Not only that, but there is some closure here with that disgusting offseason of 1990.
Denis Morel screwing the Flames out of a Game 7 back in Calgary with his egregious no goal call in OT against the Kings, and the Flames ownership went nuts that next month. Crisp fired, Fletcher put on notice (and left the next year). Joe Mullen, my favourite Flame growing up and only Flames autograph I have, considered too old after his first season in six not scoring 40 goals, blamed and thus shipped off for a 2nd rounder, Nicholas Perrault who played 3 AHL games and that’s it.
Mullen was Traded to the Pens the same day the Pens chose Jagr.
Mullen played another 400+ NHL games, won 2 Cups with Jagr, 160+ goals and 340+ points.
So, 27 years later, closure for that awful trade, amazingly, bringing the superstar player that got drafted by the same team the Flames sent Mullen to that same day. A player and transaction in Mullen who was the symbolic of the start of bad decisions the Flames really never recovered from, as out of the playoffs 2 years later for the first time ever, and arguably for 11 more years until Darryl Sutter pulled them out of the gutter in 2003.
Jagr and Mullen score back to back
40 second mark
Still off the charts in how cool it is to have JJ on the Calgary Flames.

Ha, Mullen was one of my favourite flames too
however I remember the circumstances of his trade differently
he wanted to play for Badger Bob who was coaching in Pittsburgh and the Flames traded him
very tough we only got a second rounder in return ... at the time I believe he was the highest scoring US player ever
loved his game

I don't know if the exact thresholds were released, but I believe they're all games-played bonuses. For the full million, he has to play in at least 50 games and the Flames must make the playoffs.

I saw a stat during the Kings broadcast -- sorry if it's been mentioned before. Most people know that Jagr was drafted 5th overall in 1990, same year as Craig Conroy (123rd overall) and Matthew Tkachuk's dad, Keith (19th overall).
However, I was surprised to see also drafted that year:
Jagr is looking more and more solid ~ took a couple good shots too and got right back up. He is such a good player down low and his cycle can be enduring for the other team but the key is for his line to somehow start with or have the puck when he is on the ice. Those shifts are fun to watch, the chances almost come in waves as they track the pucks and reload; I think Monahan is a better match for him personally and Versteeg has seemed to enjoy the cycle game with Jags as to me they seem to get the most touches when in the O zone.
