I guess Vladimir Tkachyov is going to Rangers development camp. This is the guy dubbed 'Vladdy Hockey' by oiler fans a few years ago when they tried to sign him illegally and got rebuffed by the NHL.
I know he's small, but he's got 'Artemi Panarin V2.0' written all over him. I hate how much it frustrates me that these big market teams always get these high profile college and European UFA signings.
How huge would it be right now for the Flames to sign a UFA to a $925,000 ELC and have him put up 70+ points with a right shot in our top 6?

I think it would be hilarious if the Rangers signed him and he put up 70. Oilers fans would be livid.

He isn't on their official camp roster:

Apparently has visa issues and won't be attending

He'll end up in Chicago so the hawks will end up with hossa 2.0 and Panarin 2.0 with around 5million cap savings.

Justin Williams will chat with Caps management this week to see if he's still a fit. 50/50 he's back in Washington next season.
Would we have any use for this guy considering we played like absolute crap in the playoffs?

I'm told UFA goaltender Brian Elliott has been making tentative accommodation plans for Winnipeg. He's on the #nhljets radar.

so the report that players taken in the expansion draft can't be traded back to their original teams until January was wrong:
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Have confirmed this with Bill Daly just now: There is no blanket rule prohibiting a team from re-acquiring player lost in exp draft already
The league just has to be satisfied it wasn't pre-cooked or part of a broader transaction that is attempting to circumvent exp draft rules
The Jan. 1 rule is for players traded to other teams before the expansion draft; they can't be re-acquired prior to Jan. 1
So, for example, as it relates to Marc Methot: there is no rule prohibiting the Senators from trying to trade back for him this week...
or for Nashville to try and get James Neal back, etc....

Did GMs interpret it incorrectly, or just the media?

IMO, he would be an excellent fit. 26 yrs old, 1.55 mil cap hit. Big tough and strong with mobility
Acquisition cost? Big question.

McNabb was at the expansion draft reveal. Suggests he is going to be part of the opening day roster.

If Vegas needs to shed more contacts asap, Tree should be in there dangling carrots for Neal, for sure.

If not McNabb, would Merrill be worth it? Seems he was better earlier in his career, but still a decent cap hit and usable as a #5.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I think Vegas is going to keep most of its brawler types. They won't win a lot of games but they'll punch a lot of faces and keep the people entertained.

Flames remain interested in re-signing Kris Versteeg. However, multiple teams have reached out with July 1 looming.

Didn't he originally come to Alberta to be closer to home? I would think the Flames have the upper hand in this unless some team massively overpays.

The ideas of McNabb and Neal are wonderful but other than defense prospects, there really is not a lot of trade assets right now

The last 3 years Versteeg has 14, 15 and 15 goals with point totals in the high 30's. More or less the model of consistency. Someone is giving him a multi year deal IMO and I'd prefer flames look for a bargain when the dust settles. If he is still around, then sign him.
