Stunned that Gulutzan would set himself up to fail with this D setup, just a brain dead decision.

I didn't pay attention to the pairings pre-game. That was indeed some unorthodox thinking by Gulutzan. Remarkable actually.

You'd think that a new coach would go with Gio-Brodie, lean on them as much as possible, and go from there.

That is the question of the day and only 1 guy has that truly bizaro answer Gulutzan.

I liked Versteeg . Even ignoring that shot off the post (That I want to see again, Sportsnet, ffs) he's played well.

Preseason Tkachuck was one of only 3 forwards to score. Gotta keep him when the competition is that dry.

Agreed! Grossman might be big in size but his foot speed compared Jokipakka is horrible. Grossman has to stop pinching and thinking he could score a goal on the rush.

Gulutzan better fix those D pairings and staple Grossman to the bench or this isn't gonna get any prettier.

Ironically, Versteeg has been the best player on that line by far, beyond the post

I'm assuming the whole signing is related to a lingering injury that Jokipakka is dealing with.

Just a shaky start. Unfortunate and worst case scenario to start the game, but I'm not surprised either. I think the Flames will gather themselves as the game goes on. Have to remember the top line has had virtually zero time together to prepare as well. There's always bugs to work out the first handful of games. I think a few more this time around because of the circumstances going in.

Yeah Monahan invisible that period. Would like to see some possession and offensive zone time.

Sloppy hockey, Flames need to tighten things up a lot. Bad turnovers and too aggressive on offense giving up odd man rushes. Thought they were the better team but need to score.

Lots if hockey left.

That's pretty weird there was no replay ever of that shot, non? AC? Can we see your replay?
