No way we should be trading a top line RW who is a team leader (Hudler) for a 30 point centre (Sutter), even if he is 5 years younger. RW is arguably our weakest position. We have plenty of players who can be a 3rd line centre in our system already. They are both UFA after next year.

I have no idea how Bennett's career will play out given it's barely begun. It's weird seeing people slot him into very specific roles already.

So if Sutter can land Hudler plus a 2nd then Backlund should be able to return us a top line winger.
That is a bad proposal by Spector. I agree with those that Bennett should be developed as a C. Somehow someway that doesn't happen and the Hudler-Sutter trade happened and Bennett moves to wing I hope he takes Hudlers spot with Monahan and Johnny

He's alright, but Backlund is a better player by far and already signed.

If people think the fourth overall pick (our highest draft pick in team history) is not playing center because a shot in the dark high school kid is your high. You are as high as bob Marley at snoop dogs birthday.
Bennett needs to be brought along like mohnny was. See some pk time, a lot of pp time and 2nd or 3 ird line mins. Our future is monahan and Bennett down the middle and that's the bottom line.
Trading a winger for a third line center to make our highest pick a winger is a riddle that makes sense to know one.

@DamoSpin: Sure sounds like No. 3, 9 and 10 picks are in play at NHL draft.

I still don't get trading for him. Ortio is the same age and has been on an upward trajectory in terms of wins, stats, and consistency. We have spent time developing him and telling him to be patient. Now you are going to add another goalie of the same age?
Lehner (or Lerner as autocorrect insists is his name) has been inconsistent last year, injured enough to make you wonder about durability, and a personality that at best can be viewed is fiery.
Why is Ottawa so desperate to trade a drafted and developed young goalie and keep the old injured guy + the 27 year old upstart that had a short string of brilliance but hasn't shown he can do it for a full season?
I don't get this. I would rather have Ortio + Hiller + keep our picks vs Ortio + Lehner.

Because it's more swings at the plate. Lehner and Ortio can battle each other and form a young tandem. We can see who emerges as the better number 1. The writing is already on the wall for Hiller. He is too old to play a role on a contending Flames team.
I'm not sure if the Lehner is the right option, but by the sounds of it he will be dealt for fairly cheap. I think his fiery attitude is a good thing too btw.
Maybe it's not the right move right now, but I can at least see the logic in it

The truth is that not many deals will get done. Now I believe there will be a couple of big trades but I highly doubt any teams in the top 10 trade their picks as every year we hear the same thing but it's partially media generated and partially GM's trying to generate an artificial bidding war (like the Rangers purposely leaking that they got a supposed offer of two 2nd round picks in hopes they can put pressure on the Oilers to give them the 16th overall pick) in hopes they can fleece a team but really all this talk is little more than speculation that will result in nothing on the weekend.

I don't really see an issue with going after Lehner, as long as it doesn't cost too much but by the sounds of it, it won't. If we had 2 goalies fight for the spot, they could motivate each other and if they both turned out...that's a good problem to have.
I'd rather have a younger goalie than an older one with no future with the team.

A lot of people think it's Columbus offering up the player for #3. What if it's Draisaitl? Flipping him for Hanifin would be huge and Coyotes still get a big, young C.

no way is dry saddle worth Hanafin or even a top 5 pick this year. Dry saddle and 16 would probably do it though.

Draisaitl and Strome are similar players. Coyotes are probably better off just drafting Strome instead of trading #3 for Draisaitl.

I think teams are interested in Lehner BECAUSE it's Ottawa to some extent as well. Remember the Ben Bishop fiasco?
They've dealt the wrong goaltender before, who's to say they won't again? Teams that give up on young goalies are wrong just as often as they are right. For the right price (and it sounds like Murray isn't seeing his asking price being met) it's worth the gamble.

Source says #Blackhawks considering trading Bryan Bickell. Depends on who else they can move. Calls it "50-50" Bickell is traded.

Well I think what makes Draisaitl enticing is that he looks to be NHL ready.
Draisaitl and 16th OA would be overpayment, but that's what it'd take for me to move Strome.
For someone who watches AZ quite a bit, I would much rather them draft Marner.

@TSNAaronWard: Much like NYR and Talbot, VAN has multiple offers on Lack. Hearing BUFF among most interested. #TSN

LOL. "Considering"... "Hoping" or "Desperate" is more likely.
