Wow Fed gets out of jail and we have a match. 7 set (basically match) points saved.

That save on the 3rd set point (5-6) was amazing.

Rain coming but apparently no roof close which is obviously good for Novak. Roger gifts him a break and that could be the third set.

Apparently more rain is coming and the roof may get closed at that point.

Novak gets the break and while he was up 5-2 in the 4th last year the crowd is way out of this and Federer not as crisp. Should be over shortly.

Novak was very good but it was a typical late career Roger loss. Couldn't win any big points, had his chances to win this match but couldn't cash any of his chances. Probably should have been straight sets if not for the big tiebreaker. Rain delay crippled Roger as his play dipped big time afterwards. It's why Roger and Rafa will probably never win another major, just takes 7 almost perfect matches now and the B+ game isn't good enough to do it. Novak should dominate the next 2-3 years and could get to Roger's record.

Roger peaked one match too early, while Nole timed his peak perfectly. If Nole was this ready for every major final he played, he'd be tied with Sampras by now.

Sad for Fed again, but getting this far is as much as you can ask for someone his age. and the current #1 reminds everyone that not having any weakness is the best asset to have over the grind of the tour.

Novak definitely deserved this win. I just had hope that Roger had one more in him. He had a great tournament but definitely an easy path to the final. He needed that first set to get his mind and game to that next level

Novak won it with the break back in set 1. If he doesn't get that, I think Roger takes the whole thing. I agree with "typical late career Fed loss" comment for sure.

Overall a good performance at the Pan Am Games. Schnur, Abanda, Dabrowski and Zhao all lost at the quarterfinal stage to higher ranked players.

Dabrowski/Bester won a Silver medal in mixed doubles and Dabrowski/Zhao go for Gold in Women's Doubles on Thursday.
