Both of Ovechkin's goals were deflected by Flames. A bit unlucky for Ramo.

Not the entirely dreadful second period I'm used to seeing from the flames of late but it was close. They really need some composure to start the third and capitalize on the powerplay to sway the momentum back.
Ramos looked good but I do belive he should have had the first ovie goal. It went weird off of bodies stick but it was trackable.
Anywho, Monahan gets his first goal in the third. Dirty crash the net kind of goal.

Well, the Caps finally turned up. Ovechkin looks fired up. He sometimes reminds me of Iggy in his prime.
We weren't solid defensively that period by any means. Not sold on Ramo.
I see no reason for Sven to be demoted to the 4th line. The guy is making things happen out there.
Monahan is clever. Makes really simple plays in the D zone but with such great vision. He makes the team better, hence why he made the team. I hope he sticks. F the ELC.
Quietly impressed with D Jones. He's a lot quicker than I was expecting. Nice hands too.
I think SOB thinks he's Ovechkin or Crosby out there. He tries crazy %^#* sometimes that's above his pay grade. Keep it simple you stupid SOB.
Lots of positives overall.

So with Wilson instigating the fight in the first period... do they still have the extra penalty for "instigating a fight with a visor"? Or is that gone with the advent of the grandfathered visors?
If so, he could have / should have been given 5 minutes for fighting, 10 minute misconduct, 2 for instigating, and 2 for instigating with a visor. That used to be the standard.

The Flames are going to need an amazing effort in the third to pull this game out.

I stand corrected. Seems likes an exploitable loop-hole to me. I'd prefer the goal stands but inability to not avoid stick to head draws penalty immediately after. Probably too much to ask of the officials as it is and there's never been a rule implemented like that afaik

His lateral movement has looked good. He was in position for Ovechkin's first goal but Brodie deflected it. Ovechkin's second goal was deflected again.
I thought he's looked composed and beaten by two goals that changed direction on him.

Ovechkin took over. They also desperately need to work on the PK. Last season the PK simply killed any momentum the team had built up.
Good game so far though, the Flames have an advantage in the fact that teams can no longer focus on Iginla's line and shut down the entire team.
