There is no doubt that Federer's QF streak is amazing. Djokovic is at 11? I think.

mistook you for inglewood jack

rafa is commonly mistaken as a clay court specialist. without a doubt he is one of the best to play on clay, but he has won wimbledon twice, aussie open once, US open once, and he's been to another 3 wimbledon, 1 aussie, and 1 US finals. health-wise, this is something out of his control. it's unfortunate that his career has been limited by the health of his foot/knee. any rafa fan who tells you that roger isn't the greatest of all time is probably brainwashed, even rafa himself has said that roger is the GOAT. but to reduce rafa to a mere clay court opportunist and ignore all of his other successes is belittling to him and tennis as a whole.

I've made the comparison before between nadal and orr/lemieux. At their best, untouchable head to head against anyone in the history of their sport. But health is always going to be part of your career story. Wayne is the great one and roger is the semi-disputed goat because they did it over their whole careers at a high level without getting betrayed by their bodies.

In these conversations i wish more people would make the distinction between best and greatest. One is how good somebody is at a given point in time, the other is the sum total of their body of work. I don't mind someone saying that rafa at his peak could be boat, but until fed's sheer numbers are challenged, i won't give goat to anyone else.

and somewhere Fed is lighting up his finest cigar. I still doubt he runs through Murray and Djoker consecutively, but that has to be a massive mental boost.

who wants to place bets that Steve Darcis goes out in straights next round? all credit to Rafa for refusing 3 times to talk about his knee at the presser. if that were Serena, she'd be doing the usual "I only played at about 15%" or maybe "if you let yourself get raped, it's your own fault", etc.

Tpsarevic is out too, that guy's game has really gone down hill. Might be good news for Canada as Serbia don't really have a #2 anymore for September.

Milos just took out one of the ball girls with a 128mph serve to her arm. Ouch. Felt bad for her, she went off crying.

Looks like he's going to take his first match in straight sets. Good sign.

reminds me of that terrible Wimbledon movie, where the evil American player accidentally smokes a ball boy with his serve, causing Paul Bettany to swear vengeance...only to watch the next serve blow by him again.

would have been great if Berloq did the same: "that's it Milos, you can pound serves past me, but once you start messing with the ball kids, that's where I draw the line..."

game, set and match, Raonic..."oh."

All 3 Canadian men (Raonic, Levine, Pospisil) advance to round 2, that might be a first!

Tomorrow
Pospisil vs [20]Youzhny

Thursday
[17]Raonic vs Sijsling
Levine vs [8]Del Potro

Ferrer is having his hands full in the 3rd set right now (tied 1-1) if Ferrer loses that section of the draw would be wide open.

What is it International Walkover Day or something? Never really seen so many players withdraw all on one day.
