As a Cads fan that would be a great match up but I think it will be Jackson Halladay.

Was that an actual quote? Even if the Yanks did throw away the game, I'm shocked Longoria would blatently say it.

But yeah, they won't face each other directly. Having to send Carpenter out today will take him out of alignment with Halladay's expected turn in the rotation, I think.

Carpenter pitched a complete game tonight. Don't think he goes again on Saturday.

They don't care about ratings. they are playing baseball. they play 161 games a year where 160 of them are meaningless. They just wanted to put out some excitement for the general sports fan who normally fall asleep on the couch watching their games.
They did an excellent job tonite!
Now fix that damn playoff format. It's dated, stupid and boring as hell. Maybe that will save the game which applauds cheaters and overpay unfit athletes millions of dollars.
Ok i wont' ruin baseball's best nite of the year anymore. i'm out. hehe

If they don't care about ratings why did they fix the games?

God imagine if it was the Jays that made that incredible run instead of the Rays, we were basically in the same position at the end of August.

Same position in the standings maybe but not close to the same position. (But it is not worth an argument from Jay fans on here so they are obviously awesome.)

Imagine if the Flames were tied for the last playoff spot and the Oilers played their AHL lineup to throw the game for the other team.
Yes, the Red Sox choked big down the stretch, but still, the Yankees play their normal lineup and don't tell Johnson what pitch is coming, they're in a one game playoff instead of counting down to spring training.

The Sox blew a nine game lead in a month and then have the nerve to bring up their HUNDRED YEAR RIVALS sitting their starters because they cliched a week ago?
It's beyond hilarious. Try not historically blowing a lead.

Are you saying that NHL teams don't rest guys at the end of the season?
Or that Mark Texiera, you know the guy that hit a grand slam, is a AAA player?
Jeter, Granderson, Cano, Swisher and Montero all had 3 or more at bats. Posada was brought in as a PH. Gardner and Jones split time as they did many times this season.
At the most you can whine about the pitching the Yankees put out there but the lineup was full value and put up 7 runs.
That wasn't close to a team throwing out a weak line-up to throw the game and the Yankees were stealing bases in extra-innings for christ sake.
The Flames would have no reason to complain because NHL teams put out weak line-ups all the time with their position set and the Yankees didn't even do that in this game.
Edit:
If the Red Sox don't lose to a less than AAA calibre Baltimore team than the are in a one game play-off. The team that has a beef with the line-ups is TB as they faced the much tougher team tonight.

The only regular that didn't play for the Yanks is thier ace closer, Rivera. If the tables were turned and the Yanks were fighting for a spot, Rivera would have been in for sure.
