They shouldn't trade Marky in a spur of the moment decision. You're not only sewering a team fighting for playoffs now, but for the foreseeable future.
Not a decision to be made lightly.
Down the road the Flames might be in the Devils position. Although if I were them I would just pony up. And would've done so three weeks ago. Fitz let a season and playoff run with his core intact go down the drain for poor reasons.
There is no world where Fitz can bring in the right goalie while keeping all his good young players Devils.

By the time this team is good again he will be on another team or retired most likely.
He is just going to waste 2 years here, and most likely cost us a good draft pick if he keeps his play.

I guess Bedard should be available then!! (This is response to the asinine parade comment)

This is pro sports, it's about winning. Should we start a thread about the teams with the greatest chemistry who missed the playoffs? Nobody wants to talk about that.

Yet you’re suggesting that the players who want to win shouldn’t be bothered by the team trading the guy who still gives them a chance.
Weird.

Yes it is.
And being thats the case, Markstrom gives the Flames a WAY better chance at doing so while he is on the team.....right?
You think things are black and white/cut and dry....they arent.
GM's have so much more to consider and account for than you seem to understand and/or admit, that doesn't mean those things dont exist.

See I do think Conroy was maybe playing a bit of chicken here.
NJD seem to have a lot more pressure to get a goalie and try to make a playoff push, than the Flames do to move Markstrom.
Think he was maybe thinking that if the pressure built from their owner that New Jersey could maybe cave.

I love that story.
Team practice in Red Deer on way from Edmonton to Calgary. And Conroy informed he’s been traded to here.
“You traded me to Red Deer?”
Also love that game he re-debuted. 2 goals.
Funny enough, if he never returns, he’s probably not GM here right now.

The point of the post was that they should give the trade a lot of consideration and make sure it's the right return to justify gutting the team short and medium term.
Not just rush him out the door even if it's just a pile of B level assets coming back that don't add anything to their vision for the team.

Start a thread about all those teams with bad chemistry that won nonetheless.
None of the tank teams in NHL history dug themselves out by maintaining a culture of losing. Especially when their ultimate hopes were pinned on a goalie who hasn't played 10 games in the NHL.
Until Wolf grabs the reins there's a need for decent goaltending. Flames aren't going to be successful if they just get blown out every night.

Sure don't like what I heard from Friedman about the Flames on 32 thoughts today.

Because winning creates chemistry, not the other way around. If you grab your 20 best friends and create an NHL team, you're going to have wonderful chemistry and a bad team. All those scoundrels in the Oilers locker room are having a grand old time right now because they're winning, not because they're nice folks.
What's the need to have decent goaltending? Just go get Mrazek or someone. Chicago isn't getting blown out every night. There are no reins to grab if you aren't even on the team. Maybe Wolf needs to prove himself in the AHL, I guess. It would be too risky to not have Markstrom around leading us to 17th place in the NHL.

While some of your points aren't way off... Wolf has literally nothing left to prove in the AHL.
