Better make those two 2nds count. The chips they have to make any kind of significant moves are running seriously thin.

Quite frankly they need to restock in the draft badly after the recent losses and shouldn't touch those given their track record of underwhelming TDL pickups.

Good thing there isn't a chance in hell they exercise any restraint and push all their chips in on a worse team.

It's wild how little the Oilers have to move in the cupboard. Other than Savoie do they have any other significant assets? Before they could have theoretically dealt Broberg or Holloway, but now they don't even have them.

What would Savoie even return? Considering how little Buffalo thought of him, is he worth a top four dman? I don't think the Oilers want to lose their own prospect anyway, but hot damn what a mess of an organization.

Obviously not or the Sabres would have traded him for one

Oilers might have to consider relegation just to restock.

Unfortunately, the NHL relegates cities, not teams. Edmonton was relegated to the Pestilent Sinkhole division years ago. The team remains in the NHL as a lonely and mournful reminder of the greater No Goodness that once was.

Not a chance. Would you trade a top 4 Dman for a 5'9" AHLer who may or may not ever pay in the NHL?

In his D+3 year, Pelletier had 62 pts in 66 games in the AHL

In his D+3 year, Savoie has 5 pts in 7 games in the AHL.

He is not worth a top 4 Dman. Not even remotely close. Buffalo essentially gave him away, because guys like him have little value, and every team has one.

Savoie isn't a significant asset. He's not going to get you a significant piece, right now, he was traded for a struggling bottom 6 forward in McLeod and a nobody prospect, and it looks like Buffalo is getting the better end of the deal.

The Sabre's couldn't get anything significant for him or they would have.

I'm sure if you called up a GM and offered Savoie for a top 4 defenseman, that GM would tell you that you would have to add a lot. And the Oilers don't have a lot.

5'9 semi soft offensive players tend to grown on trees, every team has one somewhere in their far system. Most teams don't draft them at 9 like the Sabre's did.

He’s too young for the oilers anyways.

Only good boys who do all of their crossovers get a red rose from Katz.

There’s a difference between Principe and Michaels.
Principe stinks it up on purpose for laughs while Michaels stinks it up thinking he’s great

In another thread, I might even be in partial agreement with you (but “love” is over the top). However, this is a thread celebrating No Goodness of all things Edmonton.

"how much do we have to add to Savoie to get your top 4 defenseman?" "The whole trade package, still".

Just when i thought the media and the Oiler love couldnt get more over the top, the article discussed in this thread about RNH being a HOF'er and then i see the Leaf loving Steve Dangle Podcast with the headline "Darnell Nurse On Team Canada!?!? | SDP". Just the fact they address this is ridiculous.

its just No Good. even more so than usual

I think Street Pharmacist meant that he loves Principe on television, where, fortunately for us all, we don't have to smell him.

I get glorifying the Conna. People love themselves an individual stats phenom that can dangle through 4 guys every now and then.

I'll never understand the underserved love that trickles down to their derpth by association, though.

The reason McDavid hasn't touched cup is because the rest of the roster is bad enough that it's a perennial anchor.

And whoever is dumb enough to look at Hyman's goal scoring or RNH fluke 100 point season that are a direct effect of McDavid and say these guys should be recognized individually as exceptional are very poor evaluators of the situation and probably hockey altogether.

Nurse is so bad Edmonton would ship him out for future considerations if they could. Are we trying to sewer Team Canada? Like, lol.

In terms of being handcuffed by the salary cap, the Oilers are now on the Kane/Toews/Keith/Seabrook salary cap timeline (minus the championships) and if they're not careful, they will fast forward to the Crosby/Letang/Malkin salary cap timeline.
