Don't see anything in Manning, but they would need to dump salary.

How does this even make sense?

No, there is nothing else to throw in.
No GM, not even Chiarelli will trade a first round pick for for a 4th liner and an AHL player.

Interesting. That certainly seems to suggest that Kovaz sees Lazar's time in the AHL as voluntary, but I suspect he and everyone else is well aware that Lazar is playing in the minors because he is not good enough to crack this roster. What I do see is a lot of posters who have a tonne of time for Lazar as a result of his comments when he was dispatched to Stockton:

"For me, I’m kind of fed up being that so-so guy who is plugged in here and there. I want to rebuild my game and re-establish myself, and I think the organization is on the same page with that."

Yeah, this affords some nuance in how one chooses to interpret what Kovaz wrote.

Their first round pick is in play for a top 6 forward not a 4th liner and AHL player.

Both Czarnik and Lazar would play in their top 6. I get it though, it would take more to get their first rounder.

He didn't request it, but he welcomed the chance to work on his game with hopes that he can work his way back into the NHL. Basically he had the right attitude about it.

Why the hell would he take Lindholm or Tkachuks spot!? He’s currently on the 3rd line in Philly with PP time. Probably 3/4 line here. If you think every winger on this team is going to play every single game until June, I have unfortunate news for you.
Net front guy who can’t generate shots? He IS generating shots. That’s my entire point.
However, there are probably teams that could use him more and will pay more. But I’d be surprised if he was moved for a 1st. Unless it was conditional on him signing. Which you then wouldn’t do, obviously.
|
He plays on the top PP unit in Philly with Voracek, Giroux, Couturier, and Gostisbehere, which is where 32 of his 111 shots have come from. At 5v5, he's 4th in individual shots/60, but actually 2nd last (behind Lehtera) in on-ice shots/60. So despite getting a decent number of shots for himself, the team doesn't get a lot of shots with him on the ice for whatever reason.
Troy Brouwer was the same way - when you look at shot totals in St. Louis and Washington, he had 140+ shots and ~20 goals every year. Then he comes to Calgary, doesn't get the same peachy deployment, and both of those numbers get cut in half.
EDIT: I'm on the same page for the bolded. If he comes cheap I'm not totally against it, but I think some team is going to overpay him and I really don't think he moves the dial for us much at all.

Now I'll try not to be condescending but with Flash Walken in the thread describing peoples ideas as quaint I doubt I'll top that so... no way does that trade happen. Lazar and Czarnik are worth about a 5th rounder together, maybe but probably not.
Two marginal NHL'ers at best.

Kings seeking a 1st + Prospect for Muzzin.
I'd imagine a few teams would be willing to pay that. Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton spring to mind.

It's not so much that I think his AHL time is completely voluntary, but I don't agree with the perception that Lazar wasn't an NHLer. Last year I saw him as interchangeable with Hathaway as a 4th liner/13th forward. So when he says he wants to "rebuild his game", and I don't think his game as a 4th liner needed rebuilding, I conclude that he sees "his game" as something higher up in the lineup.

I don’t see the Flames paying that price - not with the young depth we do have at the position. I’d guess we’re looking for a cheaper veteran presence in case the youth stumbles down the stretch.
If we trade our 1st, I believe it’ll be for a forward that we’ll have for more than just one playoff run.
I want Matt Duchene. Introducing that level of dynamic play onto the 3 line would be our Phil Kessel style acquisition. I believe we could extend him as well.

Lazar has one more point than Quine in 14 more games this year in the AHL. On a 1-way deal at 950k, he's the most expensive callup in the system for a team trying reduce their overall cap liability heading into the deadline.
Anything can happen, but there are all.sorts of things working against Lazar getting back into the lineup.
As far as a trade goes, he's probably in that 6-7th round pick range.
|
Quine has been phenomenal down there. But aside from him and Rychel (note spelling), Lazar has been producing better than anyone else, including the guys everyone is in love with, like Phillips or Gawdin. He's sure doing better than Foo, who has really struggled by the looks of things. And, by the sounds of it, he's playing tougher minutes.
I'd like to see him and compare him to what he was.
