Yep. Everything falls apart after a combined group comes together fighting the good fight against the Oilers. If I could ever figure out how to put the Gifs in, look out man!

Honestly, there are so many good posters on this forum. Even the majority with whom I disagree, it is usually with respect and I learn a lot.

This is why it is so jarring when a couple of people post in bad faith with the desire to ruin things for others. It’s unrealistic to think you can get rid of trolls, but we should be faster to ban obvious ones.

My choice.

Not X stuff. (dgaf)
Not the haters. (Dgaf)

I’ll still be on CP, doing my own thing talking about how much I hate Huberdeau or how I want to tank commander 5 star general but don’t be looking for any scoops of ice cream.

I will refrain from posting cryptic gifs in this thread to avoid any confusion.

I mean he actually was pretty easy to ignore. We're here because everyone put a lot of weight into his posts. I feel like I view threads differently than everyone else. I just scroll pretty liberally past stuff and read what I want to read.

If I choose to stop and be angry at one post or one poster it's generally my own doing, my choice.

I was gonna write a depressing yet inspiring missive on the state of the internet, but this thread has taught me that sharing something like that will only come to no good, so I deleted it.

You're welcome.

I agree. Getting up in arms about a post just feeds the author's ego and need for attention. It's easy just to skip over said posts and ignore.

Yep, it's dealing with trolls 101 from like 25 years ago now, lol. You ignore one or two trolls and continue the discussion amongst the rest and everything flows. If the group focuses on the troll and tries to bully them into leaving/being banned we get exactly what we have here in this thread (a complete take over).

It's the approach we attempt every single time this happens on here, though. Probably because we're all 40+ now and stuck in our ways.

This thread has become VERY malodramatic...

Can't everyone just ignore their meanies? There's even a built in ignore button...

No, you are 100% correct. Some people were over dramatic with their reactions. It definitely did not need 4 pages of anger and bickering.

Who cares what one person thinks. There are people who believe the earth is flat. Does that mean you need to get in an argument with them? Just let them be.

I feel like everyone needs to "win" an argument. I am included in that at times too. This thread today really opened my eyes. I am going to try to be less hostile in my posts as well going forward. These arguments lead to nowhere anyways. People can disagree but it shouldn't lead to this type of reaction.

Back to signing talk though... someone mentioned Zary long term at 5.5ish. I think I would be fine with that. I think over 6 is way too much, unless he wants a prove it short term contract first.
Pure speculation but I’d assume the flames want a shorter term contract given injury history, and Zarys camp would be looking for term. I’d think there would be no hesitation by Zarys camp if he was offered 5.5 for say 5 years.

Hopefully the Zary thing doesn’t drag out into training camp. Based on recent history of guys missing a significant portion of camp (mangiapane/sharongovich) it is typically followed by a subpar season

I'm a big fan of Zary. Love the way he plays. He's skilled, dynamic, and brings the kind of energy fans want to see. But I’m genuinely puzzled by the reported contract situation. If the team offered him 2 or 3 years at 3.5 million per, that feels more than fair based on his current numbers. What exactly is he holding out for? An extra million a year? That just doesn't make sense to me.

To be honest, I’ve never really seen him as a centre long-term. He looks more like a high-skill top-nine winger. But to earn a bigger deal, he needs to produce more consistently. That has always been the issue. He gets into the right spots but struggles to finish or make the final pass.

That said, I do admire his confidence. He plays like someone who believes he is a star, and maybe that belief is part of the negotiation stance. But if this drags into camp, all the pressure will be on him to show he is worth both the wait and the money.

What do others think? Is 4 million over 2 or 3 years actually reasonable for Zary at this point? Personally, I need to see more before I’m sold. Curious to hear where people land on this.
