This should end well.

Nothing will change because lawyers gonna lawyer. I'm sure we will see lengthy discussions on the meaning of terms like dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation. Lawyers need to be held accountable for their actions and frivolous law suits should lead to sanction and disbarment.

I hadn't considered this scenario at all, really. Trump is going to continue his faux-legal fight right until 2024 or he dies - whichever comes first - and the deplorables are going to eat it up. Normal people will move on from following the goblin, as will MSM, but in the deplorable bubble, this battle will never end.

Trump is guaranteeing that he maintains his grip on 30% of the population's reality, filled with conspiracies, racism and lies.

And we thought the US was split before. We'll see what GOP leadership does, though. Their party does risk splitting between Trump's deplorables and people who prefer the real world.

Wisconsin tosses Trump suit 4-3. How the **** did three judges support such a bogus suit?

That doesn’t seem too bad. The ruling was 4-3 on whether the state Supreme Court would hear the actual lawsuit before the lower courts did, with the argument centred around time constraints in going through the normal steps. It wasn’t 4-3 on the fraud lawsuit itself.

Privately I'm betting the GOP would be happy as pigs in s*** if Trump just went away quietly and disappeared. But because they're such spineless cowards, they feel they have no choice but to continue to kiss his arse and follow him off the cliff.

Going against Trump means pissing off the MAGA cult, which is at least half of their current base. They need the cult to win the Georgia runoffs and keep control of the Senate. Once the runoff election is over, I could see the GOP finally turning on Trump and cutting ties, depending on the results.

I realize that Trump won't be held accountable for any of this crap, but this kind of thing has to be highly illegal. Same with his phone calls to state canvassers and his WH meeting with Michigan GOP lawmakers a couple weeks ago.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...FPrAhwbLywOqO8

Quote:
President Trump called Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) on Saturday morning to urge him to persuade the state legislature to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the state and asked the governor to order an audit of absentee ballot signatures, the latest brazen effort by the president to interfere in the 2020 election.

Hours before he was scheduled to hold a rally in Georgia on behalf of the state’s two GOP senators, Trump pressed Kemp to call a special session of the state legislature to get lawmakers to override the results and appoint electors that would back him, according to a person familiar with the conversation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private call. He also asked the governor to demand an audit of signatures on mail ballots, something Kemp has previously noted he has no power to do.

Kemp declined the entreaty from Trump, according to the person.

The governor later referenced his conversation with Trump in a midday tweet, noting that he told the president that he’d already publicly advocated for a signature audit.

Cody Hall, Kemp’s spokesman, confirmed the two men spoke. Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh declined to comment.

Quote:
Even if officials audited signatures on ballot envelopes, it would be impossible to match them with the ballots themselves, which are separated from envelopes during processing to protect voters’ privacy, as required in the Georgia Constitution.

Kemp has requested that Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger conduct an audit, but his office has also made clear that the governor has no power to order such a move.

“Georgia law prohibits the governor from interfering in elections. The Secretary of State, who is an elected constitutional officer, has oversight over elections that cannot be overrriden by executive order,” Kemp’s spokesman said several days ago in response to Trump’s public demands.

Kemp has also said that he will not call for a special session of the legislature.

Lawyers for Raffensperger have determined that current law gives Georgia legislators no role in seating electors.

But it is okay, he didn’t take a paycheque, so look at the money he is saving the taxpayers. ( not sure if I need green text)

A lawsuit in Georgia claims that nearly 200,000 registered voters were improperly purged

No doubt he'll keep the grift going until at least Jan. 20th. Gotta squeeze as much cash as possible out of his dumbass supporters so that he can flee the country and live off the gazillions he's made since the election.

I can't understand how there isn't incredible outrage about Trump trying to overturn an election. A bunch of people in Congress in PA wrote a letter to the House asking them to not accept the EC votes from PA.

In what world do people watch politicians ask for the results of an election to be ignored because they saw some crazy conspiracy nonsense on Lou Dobbs or Hannity? And they'll mostly be reelected I'm sure.

It boggles the mind.

Maybe because a third of Americans are bat-sh** crazy and most of the others either don’t care or have given up.

If the NDP beat the UCP in the next election, I would be shocked if the same outrage and BS doesn't happen here in Alberta.

From my limited knowledge of Canadian Court procedure, I don't think it'll get as far.

Reality is what you make it. If you lock yourself in a bubble that does nothing but feed you information to think one way, then feeds you more information that confirms that position, you are going to develop an alternative reality based on the information available to you. They may be crazy conspiracy theories to us, but to those locked away in these bubbles, this is reality and the only one they believe in. This is how cults work and why many consider Trumpists are cult members.

Not just cults, but religions, too. There are probably people on this board that believe in virgin births, angels and demons, heaven and hell, God or gods. Sounds insane to rational people, but many normal-seeming intelligent people are susceptible to believing absolute fiction as fact.

Interesting development here in Virginia. Our local senator is Amanda Chase , who is one of the most gun toting, white supremacy apologist, Trump loving, conspiracy spreading politicians around is running for the republican nomination for governor and likely favorite in a primary.

The Virginia Republican Party, who is sick of nutty right wingers winning the nomination but losing badly in general elections, decided to move to a convention instead of primary to try to pick a more viable candidate. Of course, that means that Chase has decided to run as an independent.

https://richmond.com/news/state-and-...me-top-story-1

It just shows how tough it is for the republicans to try to turn their party away from the crazy. I would guess the Democrat wins by 20-30 points over second place in this scenario

The GOP are really starting to panic about Trump and the MAGA cult trying to sabotage the Georgia runoffs. It would be amazing to see those spineless a**holes lose the Senate after all of this. The meltdowns from McConnell, Graham, and company would be epic.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/06/polit...ntv/index.html

Quote:
Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan said Sunday that the "mountains of misinformation" about the election that President Donald Trump is spreading, most recently in his remarks at a rally in the state Saturday night, could hurt GOP chances in upcoming Senate runoff races.
Quote:
"I worry that this continuous you know fanning of the flames around misinformation puts us in a negative position with regards to the January 5 runoff," Duncan told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." "The mountains of misinformation are not helping the process, they're only hurting it. And Jake, I worry we are handing off a playbook to the Democrats for January 5 and certainly I can't think of a worse playbook to hand off over the last four or five weeks to the Democrats."

Despite the pummeling from their party leader, Georgia GOP election officials have pushed back against Trump's claims of fraud in the state.

Duncan told Tapper on Sunday that Trump's attacks on Kemp and Georgia's Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger "disgusts" him and spoke about the threats elected officials in the Peach State have received.
Quote:
At the Georgia rally, the President spent the majority of the early portion of his remarks falsely claiming he won the election, taking shots at Kemp and saying the Senate runoffs will be rigged.

As CNN previously reported, Republicans had been concerned that Trump could depress voter turnout among his base in the state's crucial runoffs if he continued to rail against Georgia's election system and attack Kemp -- exactly what Trump did at the Saturday night rally.
