I think one strategy if they appear serious to invade is the long game. Like Russia is doing.
Agree to join, get rights and pretend to join their cause, then destroy them from the inside out in the long run. We ain’t winning in a gun fight so gotta get creative.
Conversely I understand that will not fly and will not be palatable. So I also think we need to start making our own nukes immediately, like, yesterday. Same with pipelines that should have already been started construction to federally commandeered lands and right of ways.
The moment someone like this steps onto Canadian soil, kill them. Canadian jurisdiction. I'm sure some leniency can be arranged in the circumstances.

There is no scenario where they invade Canada and it does not trigger WW3. Trump is an egomaniac but he isn't that stupid. He will try and force us into giving in financially but he is never going to use force against us. I could even see large part of the US military becoming a rebel group against their own leaders, our military and theirs have a strong bond. Trying to use force against Canada is end game for Trump and he knows it.

Economic pressure won't work, unless he's implementing much larger tariffs.
Canada's already moved to establish stronger ties with Europe during the pause. And 80% of us are ready to buy Canadian. And by the sounds of it, many countries will rally around Canada if not to help, then to stick it to Trump.
He'd have to resort to taking a page out of his idol Putin's book.
