I dunno. I'm pretty deflated right now. It really felt like something special was happening at the beginning of the month. But leave it to a series at the Trop to completely derail the team and they're now poised to lose 5 of 8.

Vladdy going on a massive 0 - for at the exact wrong time kind of just signals this team ran out of steam to me. Playing "must" win baseball for over 2 months seems to have just worn them down.

It also completely blows that this would be a playoff team 99% of the time, but with an insane division and just some rotten luck, they could miss in historic fashion. They could finish with close to +200 run differential and miss the playoffs. How bat#### is that?

I don’t think he was going to get 2 outs, he was getting Rizzo and I don’t mind the matchup. He made a great pitch too.

And I also don’t understand his plan to use all our bullpen in game 1. Why did Cimber not come back out after 6 pitches. Why not keep rolling with Pearson

Who is he going to use for the next 2 games …
Outside of maybe Richards everyone he used tonight.

Scratch Castro off the playoff roster.

2 best SP going the next 2 games. If the Jays run out of relievers in this series the story will not be how Montoya managed the bullpen in game 1.

Vladdy needs to find his Mojo again.

I still have faith.

Might not be quite that dramatic but I think it’s essentially that.
It's over man

So true. It’s awesome to watch the Jays play meaningful games in late September. It’s still a young team with potential. They’re on an upward trajectory.

Even if they miss, I still love the MLB playoffs and will be cheering hard against the Rays.

We still only 1 game back with 5 to go. A month ago we'd take this in a heartbeat. Redsox losing was huge. Hopefully Mariners can lose as well

Red Sox losing was a minor miracle.

Jays still alive for now.

5-6 games ago, I thought there was no way vladdy was going to miss 50 home runs on the season.
Now it's looking like it's going to take a minor miracle to get there.

Seattle. I think they're the team to beat right now. 4 games left. 1 against a listless Oakland team. And 3 against the Angels who are awful right now. They'll very likely win out. Who'd have thought?

Such is baseball. I stand by my original numbers so we need 4 out of 5 to likely get in. I think I'll change my tune that we need 2 of 3 from New York now that Boston lost. So just win 4 of 5 (not easy of course).

Imagine being the Dodgers, winning 100 plus games, and having to play the Cardinals in a one game wild card game. Baseball playoff format is still insanely bad.

Berrios strikes out the side!

Now lets see what the bats will do. If they go up hacking away on the first pitch against Cole they'll get embarrassed. Need to work the counts. Cole has stellar numbers but is prone to walking guys and giving up the long ball. So if they can work the counts to their favour they might be able to get to him.

Edit. Haha! Springer proves that I don't know what I'm talking about and rings a loud double on the first pitch.
