That's game. Silver platter victory for sure. Craptastic officiating at it's worst.

Almost 300 combined penalty yards. Some NFL teams don't get that much in a season.

268 yards in penalties tonight...Do the refs get a $5 bonus for each yard in assessed penalties?

I feel bad for the fans in the stadium having to watch their team get completely hosed by the officials.

At LEAST 14 Montreal points directly as a result of terrible calls. That's harsh, I'd be livid if I was a Winnipeg fan.

Well I guess it is a good thing that they lost because they are a crappy football team and not because of the refs.

Ah, I don't agree with you on what happen so it must be because I am the "contrarian" and not because the Bombers defense was horrible and allowed the Als to score at will in the second half.

Winnipeg's players had this to say about the officiating last night. Fines most likely to be handed for these comments.
Phillip Hunt:
Quote:
For these referees to come out here and showcase poor judgmental skills is beyond me. What they have against the Win*Winnipeg Blue Bombers, or if they’re getting paid by the Alouettes… I think the referees need to have a (meeting) with the CFL and they need to talk some thing over, because this is sad. I (have) never seen such poor officiating — in any sport, in any league.
|
Obby Khan:
Quote:
What’s the point of working if they (the officials) are just going to hand the game to Montreal? Without a doubt I feel the refs did. It’s a professional league, we’re professional players… and it doesn’t seem like that (professionalism) is all around. You expect the calls to be equal. With out seeing the film, I don’t feel like they were. The ref (took) the game ball. For making calls like that, they probably deserve the game ball."
|
Doug Brown:
Quote:
"You can’t get fined for sarcasm, I don’t think," defensive tackle Doug Brown carefully offered after the crushing defeat that saw the home side fall to 3-9 on the season. "That’s a lovely teaching tape for anyone interested in getting involved in officiating in the CFL. Perfect, flawless performance out there.

Foreget Odell Willis and Jovon Johnson as well.
Odell Willis:
Quote:
We go hard the whole game. Work up to a point in the game where we think we're about to win and then you make an atrocious call which decides the game...I think they (the refs) should be penalized...That caused us to lose the game
|
Jovon Johnson:
Quote:
"We came to play, they came to play, but come on, I mean eventually the ref's are going to have to let us play."

Normally, I don't advocate players speaking out on officiating, but this has been a problem in the CFL for several seasons now and especially bad this year, in my opinion. I think it's just a case of "you get what you pay for" and if the league truly wants to improve the quality of the zebras, they need to invest the necessary $$$ in both training and salaries.

CFL is barely in business. They can't pay the ref anything
I'm fine with players blasting the refs, it's frustrating after a game like that.

I don't disagree, I think players league wide are very frustrated with the zebras. When a quality guy like Doug Brown is taking shots at the officials, people should stand up and take notice.

CFL admits they blew on that Richardson fumble. http://www.torontosun.com/sports/foo.../15476606.html
Quote:
"I spoke to Tom Higgins this morning and I can kind of clarify what would have been their ruling," LaPolice said Saturday. "If the officials rule that it's an incomplete pass, you can't challenge whether or not the ball was fumbled after that. So, the only thing that's reviewable is whether it's a catch or no-catch.
|
Quote:
"When they went under and looked at that, all they could say was whether it was a catch or no-catch. The problem is, on the field, they ruled it an incomplete pass. It should have ruled it completed, OK? Then, err on the side of completion because, then you can challenge that and be reversed. And that's a flaw in the system that Tom said is not good.
|
Quote:
"He said it's clearly fumble and we're going to look at trying to address it and try to fix it … He (apologized), well, he said there was no reviewable aspect to it. It was a fumble but obviously, the whistle blew too quick. So, that's frustrating."

I could care less if they admit they make mistakes, they shouldn't be making mistakes like that. The fact is every single game in the CFL has been officiating, every game. This league has the worst reffing in any major sport that I have ever watched. And it becomes very difficult to take the league and the game seriously when you see some of the major mistakes the refs and video review booth are making.

that's not a good excuse. if teams have salary caps of almost $5mil each, maybe they can lower it and put a little more money towards reffing, although I agree the small amount of money is tough to spread around. hopefully when the current TSN tv deal expires they can get more money (they should get at least double considering the ratings they get) and put some of it towards the reffing
