I'm in Montreal, so likely won't be playing with most of you unless your visting Montreal.

I think I might be having a similar issue as the one jolinar has mentioned. I finally got a new phone, and started playing again, but the grid will disappear if I move search around the map too much. It takes hitting that expand button to make the map area bigger for the grid to come back.

Is there a rule on using multiple devices with the same account at the same time?

Here are the rules about cheating that talk about using multiple devices. Basically, you can use two as long as one is stationary.

Any user found cheating or circumventing the rules of the game will have their account suspended and their troops deleted without warning.

This can include, but is not limited to:

1. Using GPS location changing applications to change the current location of your mobile device.
2. More than one person using a single user account.
3. Abusing multiple devices with one account. This includes
a. Using more than two (2) devices at the same time.
b. Having two (2) devices moving at the same time. One MUST be stationary.
Cheaters will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Own This World administrators.

These rules may be changed at the discretion of the administrators. Any changes will be posted on the Own This World Forum.

So if I leave one unit on at home accumulating troops, it won't get automatically logged out if I use another unit with the same account?

Jolinar are you talking about these new super aggressive users in Edmonton? I'm getting killed by them, I can barely maintain territories anymore.

You won't get logged out...yet. We'll be changing that in an upcoming update.

Yes, there is a very "active" group of players in Edmonton right now. Seems to happen in waves.

I think I'll fire up OTW again on this summer's road trip. I delighted in stealing all of Russic's BC territories one day after he took them last year. Sadly, that stands out as my favourite memory of summer 2010.

There are people with multiple accounts. There's no way to avoid it.

We can't tie accounts to devices because people share phones/iPods. People sign up with different email addresses.

Also, we don't know what the advantage would be to managing two accounts. It would take a lot of work without any reward. Especially if you're in different alliances. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Helping to put your kids through college... just bought the app.

It's a huge advantage. Securely occupying the top two spots makes a territory much more secure. Also, and more importantly, you can run complimentary alliance structures extending your diplomatic reach while not sacrificing resources.

I think "huge" advantage is a bit of an overstatement. Occupying the top two spots in a territory is an advantage. However, doing it as two separate Alliances really dilutes what you're able to do with that territory resource.

If people want to spend the time to try to manage two accounts effectively, there isn't much we can do about it.

Unless you have conquered a crapload of territories, the only way you. Can get resources is to buy them?
Is this going to wind up being an expensive game to play? I wasn't really serious about putting your kids through college....

That is my one really problem with the game. In a city like Calgary, new players can never really get established unless they pay for resources. Make the "free" world almost impossible to play.
