No matter what, Sutter as a coach has an expiry date. That was even discussed when he was hired. It has arrived a bit earlier than his normal runway

Sutter's defensive systems are pretty tried and true. If the players aren't executing on that side of things, that's on on them.

I can see some valid criticisms of Sutter, but not being able to provide a solid defensive system isn't one of them.

Is that an official trade request? Cause most of y'all under contract.

I said it earlier but that was always going to be the biggest issue this offseason for Sutter.

If Lindholm, Hanifin, Toffoli, Tanev, Zadorov, Backlund indicate they aren't willing to re-sign with Sutter as head coach then that will cost him his job.

Especially if there were indications that part of the reason Tkachuk wanted out was Sutter (which I've heard was part of the reason).

Wouldn’t be crazy to me if that specifically feeds into Steinberg’s comments on Lindholm’s desire to sign an extension being viewed as uncertain from the organization’s perspective.

Yeah, I have no idea on actual date. If he doesn't have new contract he won't be firing coaches though.

Yes, he (and other coaches) "could have"...but he also could leave them all in place and say "You created this mess tonight...you clean it up and help out your goalie." And they didn't do that either.

Just for fun... Huberdeau and Kadri want out. Can a deal be facilitated with 1 million retained for either player? What about Markstrom? Obviously very difficult trades to make, but I do wonder about Huberdeau to Montreal, Kadri to Colorado and Markstrom to Carolina.

Well #### it, if we aren’t going to win games, I hope the blowouts keep coming.

But hey, maybe ... a half-dozen different insiders ... are all lying to create a narrative about some kind of conflict in the Flames' dressing room.

This whole noncommunicative, stubborn, me vs the team approach is so laughably out of tune with where the game and this age of players is at. You need your players to play for you, not against you.

It's a bad work environment and that rests on the shoulders of the man running the room. They are not enjoying going to the rink.

Why would you choose a coach whom has had little to no success in the past decade over a player coming off an 115 point season, and a center who was instrumental in winning the Stanley cup last year?

Darryl needs to go.

Nope.

You fire the coach before you sell low on all three of those players.

People all talk about "This team got Hartley, Gulutzan, and Peters/Ward fired, you can't let the inmates run the asylum".

The only player on this roster that played for Hartley is Backlund.

The only players that played as a regular for Gulutzan were Backlund and Stone.

This isn't the same team, and it's not a young team like it was in 15-16 when Hartley was fired. It's a team of respected veterans with Huberdeau, Kadri, Lindholm, Toffoli, Tanev, Backlund, Coleman, Lewis, Lucic all being respected veterans across the league.

If those guys say the coach and his way of dealing/communicating with players is the issue then you trust them.
