Not my fault Rory expected to have the other guy win the tournament for him.

Well that sucks, seems like a waste of what could have been a good tournament. It always sucks when a major is wasted on a winner like this.

Call me a debbie downer, but this 18th hole scene seems a little manufactured after all the criticism of the attendance this week.

I still think he's going to leave pleased. His game was absolute trash for a couple years.

Wyndham Clark is a hell of a golfer.

Ha, I knew it was coming.
Ya, I guess. Still, I don’t think it was the greatest Open. Its so hard to like unknown winners at the majors.

Well if they manufactured the crowd on 18 to try and silence the "terrible crowd" takes, Wyndham hitting a 60 yard slice and finding the fairway perfectly encapsulates what a lame ass course this was. Definitely not US Open standard, if they come back to LA it's gotta be Riviera or bust.

LOL
Maybe compared to us but for a major winner who is 29 never qualified for the Masters, never made a cut at the US Open before this, 75th and 76th best finishes at PGA and British is a terrible resume.

Yay, you can read Wikipedia.
He smoked the field in Charlotte earlier this year.
LOL indeed.

It happens. There are always going to be Ben Curtis's and Shaun Micheel's and Michael Campbell's. It's what makes majors fun, complete randoms can't really win the biggest prizes in other sports.

I agree it happens, not sure it makes them fun but I guess it’s fitting for this tournament to have a meh winner with all the other issues.

Well it would have been boring if Rory had won simply because the other guy collapsed and not because he outplayed Wyndham. Randoms outplay great players in majors sometimes, it's cool to see IMO. Rory just was way too safe today, even though Wyndham had some hiccups he also had some brave moments and took some chances to try and win. The funny thing is even though Rory's strategy was lame, it would have worked if he just birdies a par 5 instead of bogeys it.

I’m not as negative as some, I enjoyed the tournament and the coverage. The course has potential but in the end, not a US Open setup.
A guy has a one shot lead coming into the 72nd hole and there is zero pressure on his tee shot because the fairway is a mile wide. Sure enough he hits an awful tee shot and is not penalized in the least. The scores relative to par were only somewhat reasonable because they lowered the par to 70 and lengthened the tees.
Seems like the USGA is doing away with the premium on driving accuracy.

Yeah if Rory hits the fairway with his tee shot on the last par 5 he probably wins.

I think what was frustrating was that Clark didn't even play well. it wasn't like he was making a ton of great shots to out play Rory he just kept plugging along par-par-par with a few breaks. That certainly isn't his fault, but it made for a very dull final round with nobody making great shots, no big duels, a dud at as the winner and not even a fun blow-up as Ricky took his time to drag out his meltdown with a slow, weak collapse.
