I'm super excited about this one as I've been waiting a while to see Gojira. Korn puts on a good show and I spent way too many years listening to Nu Metal to hate on it because it's considered cool to do so today. As with thrash, grunge, hair metal, I make no apologies for what I listened to.

Concerts nowadays are confusing. I know people keep pointing to millennials with disposable income but we had money 5-10 years ago. If anything we have less money now due to the housing crisis and inflation so that explanation only goes so far.
Seeing Blink, Sum41, Korn, Deftones, NIN etc sell out arenas when 5-10 years ago some of them were playing secondary venues for 1/4 the price just doesn't make any sense to me.
Maybe Millennials have kids old enough they can bring them? Maybe we're all having mid life crises and want to relive our youth when at 30 we all wanted to forget music from our teens?
I'm pretty sure Korn could barely sell out the big four building 5 years ago. Now they're selling out the dome with $400 floor seats. WTF?
EDIT: Ok that was 15 years ago that Korn played Big Four. Wow, time flies.

I saw them at the Dome probably in that period, Papa Roach opened. I don't remember much of it to be honest, other than they had a camera going around the crowd trying to get girls to flash for the jumbotron
I won tickets from CJ92 for that AND Summersault festival in Edmonton with Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins A Perfect Circle and OLP and more at Commonwealth- That was an awesome day

That was the one. July 2000. Papa roach and powerman 5000 opened. Still one of the wildest and loudest shows I’ve ever seen. The pit looked absolutely bonkers.
I don’t remember the flashing but I do remember it also included an animation thing in between sets. It was this crazy black and white animation with a dude sticking slivers between his finger nails lol.

NIN is firmly in Gen X territory. I was listening to them in fricken junior high in 1990. Might have even been 1989 when Head Like a Hole made its first appearance on one of my mix tapes.
Blink sucks, so who cares about them.
Sum straddle Millennial and Gen X, but I could kind of concede I may have been on the older side of their fanbase when they appeared on the scene. Always loved them, though.

Hopefully that dude took his allergy meds before the show. If he would just blow his nose and hawk tuah maybe he could have a good voice. We may never know, though.

NIN have always been worth the price of admission....Unfortunately they are skipping Alberta or I'd go see them yet again

The last time I saw NIN at the dome I got bored, and I've been a fan since 1990, like Sliver. I remember dancing to Sin at the Warehouse. That was fun.

Plus Eve 6. And Sum 41. And Finger Eleven. And Treble Charger (less cool now). What a crazy 2000 lineup. One of the all time great concerts. The dude next to me asked casually if I'd like a "vodka t*t"... then his wife pulled out two ziplock bags full of vodka from her bra. I'll never forget that day.

It's weird that the oddball/outcast soundtracks we listened to as kids are now considered cool and in some cases iconic.
I had to hide my music taste around most people for many years due to the likelihood of ridicule. Not used to being suddenly liberated in that regard.
Bumping nu metal and pop punk used to get you classified as a trashy degenerate. Now it's a source of bonding and respect lol.

Celebrated Square Root Day

I'm getting so old. 2003-2011ish was amazing for me, I used to get giddy just knowing the line up was coming soon. And then I'd end up choosing like 5 bands minimum to go see and was usually leaving a couple solid opens on the table because I couldn't afford to go out every night of Stampede.
Now I'm lucky if I know one band and this year it's Simple Plan. Saw them open for The Offspring a couple years ago and they put on a great show.
