Talk on NHL Network Radio & Fan 590 yesterday suggested it might be too difficult to make up games in that 3 week break regardless if they go to the Olympics or not due to building availability. Possibility exists they could play some of those games, or do some neutral site games, but logistically it sounded rough.
Apparently the news that an alternate schedule was drafted was true, but only in the case of no Olympics and if the decision was made prior to the start of the season. Since they pressed forward, most buildings occupied the empty dates where they could.

I'm sure the NHL and fans would like to get back to a more regular schedule like the other pro leagues. Although 2 more weeks isn't really that much.

I don’t see NHL players playing in the Olympics, and the NHL season being completed without serious changes (or maybe at all) as Covid-19 looks to rip through the league.

It doesn't really solve anything unless you ban players, coaches and team officials from leaving their houses during those times.
Best to get in as many games in as possible, postpone for teams with tonnes of cases. Those teams with a lot of cases are unlikely to be shut down again this season due to high immunity.
Cancel Olympics and use the time for make up games.
They also need to allow for emergency call ups without having to play a game shorthanded first.

NHL app shows Flames games vs Ducks and Kraken postponed, but oilers game on 27th still on. If true, presumably they'd get one practice in on the 26th before playing on the 27th

Oh great, it would be just like the first game of the season but even worse, coming in off an extended break with no access to facilities, and the Coil having every advantage.

Old school full practice on the morning of the 17th perhaps? That's the dream.

It’s ripping through so fast this time that it may burn itself out in a month or so.

I was looking forward to that 27th game before the team went down cause it would be the played on even ground, with both teams having that first third of the season under them. Better measuring stick than game 1.
I don't know how you can expect the "best" out of the Flames now, or anywhere close to it. We'll be shorthanded and near two weeks out of practice.

I think that makes 3 for them (Shore, Tippet, and now RNH). They can't even do COVID right!

As someone who has some holdouts in their life I can safely say that no, it wouldn’t make any difference at all. All it would do is make them tune out of their show.
The anti-vaxx crowd has made up their mind at this point. Boomer and Rhett Warrener aren’t changing anyone’s mind.

Oilers are probably already salivating about that game. They get to play a super rusty Covid-ravaged Flames squad coming off an extended break with little to no practice time. It's the perfect setup for them with the 2 points basically already gift-wrapped.

Which will make it all the more painful for the Coil when they lose.
