Problem is that the landscape has changed the summer McDavid and Draisaitl signed. Players signed before that time don't make good comparibles, at least in the players and agent's eyes. Add to that Nylander is 4th in the pecking order there and everyone knows it. If push comes to shove they won't think twice to jettison him out of there. That is why he isn't going to leave money on the table.

Hopefully they are able to reach a deal that both Nylander and the Leafs are happy with.
But the fax goes down and they don't get it in before 5 p.m.

I would be more worried about the Leafs messing up on the time. This is really showing the lack of competence of their managerial team letting this thing get this far. Fighting over 4 tenths of one percent of the cap. Laughable.

I'm not misrepresenting. I'm following the logical consequences of what you said.
You seem to think that Nylander makes the difference between a contender and a team that has no chance. Otherwise you would not talk about the Leafs ‘pissing away’ a chance to win the Cup by not signing him.
