No wonder they didn't televise many preseason games. Jesus #### what a mess. Best shake that #### off and get on those horses in the 2nd.

The better question is how the hell did Grossman get a contract? And how on earth is Jokipakka sitting out for him? Honestly it makes zero sense. Grossman had an awful pre-season. I just don't get it.

This feels like what happens when training camp is used exclusively for try-outs, and actual dress rehearsals don't occur. Such as the last game.

50% of the problem tonight is the D pairings. Hartley tried splitting up Brodano already. It didn't work then, it's not going to work now... Gio/Brodie can handle the Oilers easily. Just let them do their thing.

No sustained pressure. Elliot needs to be better. However they looked like they were getting some momentum near the end of the period.

There wasn't enough turnover if you ask me. Too much dead weight still.

First period is over, thankfully.
The Flames just need to regroup, calm down and come out hard in the 2nd.
I thought Engelland looked fine but hopefully Grossman isn't a regular in the lineup.
Lots of rust out there.

I liked Tkachuk that period. Played a simple game.

I understand the oiler fellating in their new arena during their home opener. Its to be expected.
But it I have to put up with this crap during the Flames home opener, I may throw the TV out the window.

The Flames need to pressure that Edmonton D more. The one time Stajan and Chiasson did, they got a goal.

No, that wouod require stay at home defensemen Grossmann replaced by Kulak.
So close, yet that one difference is the difference.

Definitely not a good period by Gaudreau or Monahan (I'm not sure he even touched the puck that period?).

Gotta say I'd like to see a replay of that as well. The goal light did come on.
