I mean that has to be one of the 5 best matches Fed has ever played in a major. 56 winners, 11 errors, 76% first serves in with 84% wins and the shotmaking was glorious. I'm sad watching it knowing we don't have a lot of them left.

Woooo so happy about Roger. Went home at lunch. All I got to see was that 15 minute game in the 2nd. Roger is on fire this year, at Wimbledon.

Roger is now 10-0 in Wimbledon semi-finals, with an utterly absurd 30 sets won and 1 lost (to Djokovic in 2012). Another "wow" stat from the greatest.

Could he possibly retire if he wins?

That'd be pretty pimp.

But I guess he could go for twenty?

Tennis’s Top Women Balance Body Image With Ambition

Christ help me I don't even. Oh my.

Quote:
“My arms are really fit, but I wanted to cover them, because when I do people don’t recognize me as much,” [Serena] said.

Williams, who will be vying for the Wimbledon title against Garbiņe Muguruza on Saturday, has large biceps and a mold-breaking muscular frame, which packs the power and athleticism that have dominated women’s tennis for years. Her rivals could try to emulate her physique, but most of them choose not to.

“It’s our decision to keep her as the smallest player in the top 10,” said Tomasz Wiktorowski, the coach of Agnieszka Radwanska, who is listed at 5 feet 8 and 123 pounds. “Because, first of all she’s a woman, and she wants to be a woman.”

For many, perceived ideal feminine body type can seem at odds with the best physique for tennis success. Andrea Petkovic, a German ranked 14th, said she particularly loathed seeing pictures of herself hitting two-handed backhands, when her arm muscles appear the most bulging.

“I just feel unfeminine,” she said.
For the people who say women deserve less prize money... the fact that women are intentionally not being the best players they can be gives them a damn good reason to say the things they do. What an embarrassment.

Execpt the majority of people like womens tennis not because of the tennis.

I agree with Radwanska though. I like to see more variety. The womens game has turned into a bunch of ball bashers who cant win.

Move over Steffi Graf. Serena is going to knock you off. Just a matter of time.

This is the second time Serena has held all 4 slam titles, but she has yet to win all of them in the same calendar year. She's won the last 3 US Opens (would have been 4 if not for that unreal performance by Sam Stosur) so her chances are pretty dang good this time around.

Same thing happened with Graf. Monica Seles got stabbed and that was it. She ran rough shod on everyone. No competition.

Serena's physique is 95+% genetics, I've never seen pictures of her in the gym pumping hundreds of pounds of rock weight. Any competitor that says they could have that body if they just tried is out to lunch.

You still have to train. Nobody on the planet can attribute 95% of their physique to genetics.

Rafa never sets foot in the gym and the closest thing to weight training he does is resistance bands. give those same bands to the general population and see if their biceps grow to that size. I'm guessing no for the vast, vast majority.

it's the same as getting unnaturally huge by taking roids...of course it still requires a large amount of dedication and work ethic to look like a parade balloon, but you're not getting anywhere near that without the base factor/advantage.

Serena's physique is attainable for most others on tour who are 5'9". They would just have to put tennis on the back burner to focus on hypertrophy training.

For the women, Dabrowski won Round 1, Abanda and Zhao start tomorrow.

I want Roger to win this so much. I hope today goes like the rest of his matches here have gone.

Novak winning that set not playing that well has to be pretty demoralizing for Federer. He also has to feel he gave that set away, so interesting to see how he reacts.
