The odds (CAN 1.95 vs ENG 3.30, ET/PK 3.00) would disagree.

To be fair, they don't explicitly say that... just that they have a bunch of different/looks formations and might be able to surprise Canada, though I suspect we could easily adjust with the strength of our back line.

Japan 1.80 vs Australia 3.80 -- Edmonton

Advantage Japan, but watch De Vanna at the right front for Australia cause she is one of the most powerful and feisty forwards in this tournament, great two-way player and that's what you need to beat a team as disciplined as Japan. In the 2014 Asian Cup, Australia jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Japan before an own goal and another dumb goal let Japan tie it up.

Temps will be a factor. Currently 29° and will be 30-31° throughout the game, feels more like 35-40° down on the turf. This is likely in Australia's favour, if anything.

Waaay under 20k at Commonwealth. This would have been better as a doubleheader at BC Place, but I appreciate them trying to spread out the wealth.

Wow, Edmonton was really living off that one time they got 50k for a women's soccer game, from way back when they were a sports town.

They've been very disappointing this tournament, outside of the opener.

I don't think Japan looks that good. If we or England don't beat them then the US or Germany will.

US and Germany have not looked that good either, from the main powers only France looked good (outside of the Colombia game) and they are gone.

US hasn't looked good, but they haven't looked bad. 400+ minutes of shutout play, good luck scoring on them. If their forwards get it together it's over for everybody else.

It's even hotter in Vancouver than it is here, god forbid they keep the roof open.

Go Canada, off to find a pub to watch that game

What am I missing here? TSN has CFL on four channels and the Whitecaps game on 1. Where's this televised?

Should be on CTV.

Best play by Sinclair of the tournament and what a time for it to come. Good start for Canada.

A couple brutal mistakes and Canada is now in deep, deep trouble.

I kinda feel bad for Sess. She's just never seemed right the whole tournament after her injury and getting berated by the media has not helped. Now she's toast. There's not really anybody else better on the bench, nor do I have any confidence in Wilkinson down the side.
