Craig Mactankvish and company are truly giving a comprehensive how-to-not-run-a-sports-franchise guide. If I was an Oilers fan my head would have exploded after that press conference. After all the fans up there have dealt with to have a GM ask for patience, wow, amazing. They are such a joke.

This management team reminds me of a bunch of investors who have fallen in love with a crappy stock and just can't let go. They will consequently watch this thing crater through the floor.

Awe that's cool man. I play NHL 15 too. Maybe we can play together sometime.

Just going back and re-watching this since I didn't have the chance to see it live.

Jesus, what a pillar of delusion. That press conference must be so soul crushing as an Oilers fan ... to realize they still think they're on the right track, that they'll never move these entitled kids and that the owner likely won't do anything.

What a terrible feeling it must be. What a terrible, hilarious feeling.

That vegetation analysis as the proof of superiority of Edmonton as a climate and overlall as a city, and further, his indepth demographic analysis of Calgary vs Edmonton, based on the FCUK store in WEM vs none in Calgary at the time, makes me wonder if he became an advanced stats guy.

Either way, it was a very different CP back then.

it really is remarkable how incredibly far off the mark someone could get in self evaluation.

I honestly am not sure they're aware that there is no lower spot to be in the standings.

Only positive thing from this conference for Oiler fans is that they won't do anything stupid to jeopardize the chances of picking McDavid/Eichel.

The scary thing is if the Oilers had a competent management team at next years draft, they could drastically alter their future. Admit the rebuild failed, draft McDavid/Eichel. Go with a future centre core of Mcdavid/Eichel - Nugent Hopkins - Draisaitl and move their three wingers for youngish D men plus some vets. They could legitimately build down the centre and add a bunch of D assets in one summer and actually have a plan to sell to their fanbase that is proven to work in the NHL. Backend and up the middle instead of flashy wingers.

Thankfully they're too prideful to admit they've totally ####ed up their rebuild. Unfortunately they'll still get one of those beastly centers at 1 or 2.

That sounds like a plan that could actually work. It roots out the bad core and restarts the re-re-rebuild up the middle. Still have to address goaltending but that's a free-agency thing for them. Of course it all hinges on them getting McDavid/Eichel but that looks more and more likely every day. Heck, they could go to whoever is picking 3rd overall and offer up eberle, hall (salary retained), and yakupov + 2nd round pick for that pick in an attempt to get hannifin. Hopefully they don't clue in on that plan... they're not that smart though so I doubt they will.

Just turned on the presser, my favorite part. 5 seconds in he says "there will be no satisfaction in what i'm about to say."

Wrong again Craig, I will take great satisfaction in this.
