Just because a guy hasn't produced that way you wanted him to or wasn't traded for pieces you thought were going to get doesn't make him a "loser".
As pointed out, injuries made it difficult for him to get into a groove. Even still, he's producing around his career average rate. I can promise you the guy conducts himself well, cares deeply about the performance of his team and is the kind of guy who just does things right. He's been a big, big part on/off the ice during this positive stretch for the team which may prove to be critical in stepping off on a good note for next season.
If anything, that's a winner. The team will miss him if/when he's gone.

Looks like Fan 960 just reported that there is a good possibility of Cammalleri staying with the team, it would involve no-trade/no-movement.
Apparently, new offer has been made and MC is interested.

Ugh. I like Cammy, and I don't mind him staying for now, but an NTC / NMC is not necessary.

at this point I hope he sticks around...really its not like we need the cap space and he is good for the younger players

While I agree with you, there is zero chance Cammy signs a deal with Calgary (or any other rebuilding team) that doesn't involve an NMC. He has free choice at the end of this year to select from a lot of places he might want to go. If he's been convinced (by dollars) to maybe see how quickly Calgary can turn things around, he's certainly not going to take that gamble without the ability to at least partially have a say in where he goes.
I don't like NMC's, but in our situations and Cammy's this is one where I completely understand why it will occur. If we want the player, he's going to demand it (rightfully so) and at this point in his career I get why Cammy thinks he needs it and potentially earned it.

I think it will take 5 year contract and 5 million plus. Not sure, if this is a great solution. If MC signs I would assume that Hudler gets traded.
Burke wants to get bigger and some of our more talented prospects are smaller.

^ for that very reason, I think Cammy leaves for a different team. Don't blame him, another team could use him. I think Sven will be ready next season, and stays with us permanently.

With the history that Cammy has of asking to leave teams, or not being happy, and very particular with where he plays, I take this rumor contract as good news. If he's interested in staying with the Flames, that's means he likes the team, is happy with where he is, and he's buying into the system. If that's true, and he continues to play like he has as of recently, I'd gladly resign him! Cammy is an excellent player when he's head strong and not stressing about playing on a team he dislikes.
I'd also agree that if he resigns, there's chances that Hudler may be moved and replaced with a bigger player.

I still think he heads to FA but I also think at the end of the day he re-signs here.

Agreed that he'll likely test out free agency to get an idea of what the other offers are like. Will he end up signing here? No idea, but I'd be perfectly fine with a short-term-big-money deal. Would give us the ability to trade Hudler if a nice offer was presented.

I like Cammalleri but I would rather lose him than sign him to an NMC of 3 years or more.
Two years ?- fine. Modified NTC where he has a say in which teams he can be traded to? - absolutely.
Full NMC - no thank you

I understand your thoughts in principal, but when micro analyzed to this situation specifically, what difference does it really make, even at 3 years.
- One, we likely loose him for 0 assets if he doesn't sign. So he's worth nothing to us.
- Two, we likely won't need his cap space any time during the 3 years of his deal, so there is no "we need his cap space" issue if his NMC prevents us from sending him down or moving him out.
- Three, having a full NMC. He'll likely accept a deal to at least one contender if we want to trade him, so the only issue with his NMC is it will hurt the trade return. But given the comparison is actually 0 return today, versus minimized return for him in the future due to the NMC.....we are still better off for having signed him.
Again, I agree with your thoughts in general, but in this specific situation, given the Flames cap situation for the next few years, and given that we would get 0 for Cammy if he testes FA, it actually creates a scenario where the Flames really can't lose by giving him a full NMC. Don't get me wrong, if we can avoid it, all the better, but it won't hurt us to do it in this case at all.

Because all they said was instead of it being 100% that cammy is going to free agency its more like 50/50 right now that's it.

I get that feeling as well. I'm sure he'll test the market, but if he doesn't find anyone willing to pay him significantly more than the Flames are offering I think he'll sign here.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over it though; I like having Cammy around, but he's not the kind of centre-piece player you build a championship team around.

If Cammi re-signs my guess is Hudler is traded. With Burke wanting a bigger team I can't see him wanting both hudler and Cammi, with Sven probably making a push for next season.

I am still not convinced that if Cammy get a 3-5 yr contract we are going to see the type of scoring we have seen over the last few months.
I am not a fan of giving him a NMC or NTC, if that is the deal breaker, let him go imo.
