I saw the replay on that play and I couldn't even watch it the second time. It reminds me of when QB Joe Theismann broke his leg..like it just folded. That's nasty and I hope he recover fast. Is that game/practice NBA sanctions?

Things have certainly fallen off a cliff for the Pacers since they had the best record in the NBA around the All-Star break this year. I doubt George is ever the same player again after that injury, we've seen guys come back from it but were never quite the same. Indiana might as well tank now for next year although in the very bad East they might still be a playoff team without George.

Yeah, I don't know how you come back from that injury mentally. Every time you plant, that's going to be in the back of your mind.

So the NBA store has discontinued Wiggins Cavaliers jersey (now the page doesn't even exist), and the Wolves owner says he expects a deal done by late August (when 30 days after Wiggins signed his deal is complete). Sounds like barring something unforeseen this trade is going to happen.

I would think that Cleveland probably has a prearranged sign and trade to get Love to sign an extension. I don't see how they'd make this deal otherwise.

I see the attraction in trading for Love, But I think Cleveland could wind up regretting letting a potentially dominant rookie go...

The biggest draw bag of trading for Love is Cleveland losing out on the service of a underpaid rookie in Wiggin. The salary difference between Wiggin and Love will be in the range of $15M for the next 5 years which could pay for a proven player in like Travor Arizor or Loul Dang.
Would hypothetically a Wiggin+Dang duo be better than Love?

From my experience as a GM on the school yard court. It is just not wise to trade the black guy for the white guy.

It is an unique opportunity, not just looking at Love's scoring and rebounding numbers, but also looking at one key element of his game that would make the Cavs tough to beat - his outlet passes to setup fastbreaks. Can you imagine LeBron, Irving, Waiters all feasting on fastbreaks? Then if teams collapse quickly to kill the fastbreak you have a court full of skillful passers to create scoring chances. Love also spaces the floor well for Irving and LeBron in halfcourt situations. The only worry I would have is on D, which, as it would happen, is the area Wiggins would help the most. On offence Wiggins adds another athletic scorer, but he is still raw. Love helps the team win now and as good as Wiggins can be, Love is an all-star right now.

Yep getting Love is an excellent move. Who knows how long Lebron is staying. Maybe gives them a couple of years and then heads to the Lakers or the Knicks. Cavs don't have the time to wait for
Wiggins to develop or Bennett etc. They grab Love and they are likely in the finals. Defense be hanged.
Try stopping their offense will be their reply.

Fair enough, but this again has to hinge on Love signing an extension. You don't give up a very possible major franchise player for one year of anyone.

Kevin Durant reportedly is about to sign a new deal with Under Armour for 10 years and....$325 million. You did indeed read that right, and also includes a stake in the company. This also probably ups the Durant to DC in 2016 speculation a bit as Under Armour is based in nearby Baltimore. Utterly absurd amount of money obviously.

Deal for Kevin Love has reportedly been agreed to, and it includes Love signing a 5 year extension.
Quote:
The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement in principle to send All-Star forward Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round draft pick, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Cleveland is making the deal with Minnesota with a firm agreement Love will opt out of his contract in 2015 and re-sign with the Cavaliers on a five-year, $120 million-plus contract extension, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The deal cannot be finalized until Aug. 23, because Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft, cannot be traded until one month after the signing of his rookie contract. The two teams have agreed to the deal, but neither would have recourse if the other decided to pull out of the arrangement before it can be formally completed this month. No third team is involved in the Cavaliers-Timberwolves trade agreement.
The precise deal terms have been agreed upon for weeks, but the teams and Love plan to stay silent about the particulars until the trade is announced in 16 days, sources told Yahoo Sports.

I think Minny wins out in the Love deal. Usually when you have to deal your disgruntled star, you don't get equal value back. Minny couldn't even get Klay Thompson for Love and this deal is much better so it is smart for them to deal now.
Seems to me Cleveland is the one more eager to deal so Minny wins in this. Cleveland might not have another chance to pair Love, LBJ and Irving together ever and they have to deal now also.
On paper, I would saw the Cleveland Big 3 is every bit as good if not better than the Miami Big 3. I don't see Love and Irving disappear and let LBJ go solo 90% of the time.
Had LBJ not gone home, Cleveland is looking like another lottery team next year and now they arguably have the sexiest team in the entire league in the span of a few months. Who would have though?

How funny would that be, after giving up Wiggins, if LeBron leaves Cleveland again in 2016? Oops!

Well, at least this likely means Wiggins will be on the Raptors in 4 years. No chance he re-signs in Minny.

I agree on Minnesota winning this trade. Look at the young core of their team: Wiggins, Bennett, Muhammed, Dieng, LaVine, Rubio. All high upside guys, all 23 or younger (and most younger than 21). You've got an elite passer, a pair of ubber-athletic wings, a rim protecting C, a stretch 4, and a top 2-way player. That's going to be a fun team to watch, although they'll lose a lot of games (and potentially add another high draft pick or two). Do they trade Martin and Pekovic now? Those guys might be past their prime by the time the rest of the core is ready to compete.
