Milos dominated by Monfils 6-4 6-2. He has a lot of time to think about improving his game for Wimbledon

he's never been good on grass. If he loses to Monfils on hardcourt I'd be worried.

Another tough go for Raonic. He drops his opener in straight sets to Dodig. I didn't realize he was the top seed at AEGON.

He's just awful on grass. Can't move on it.
I expect 2nd round at best at Wimbledon.

this bottom half is all sorts of stupid. I know they used some sort of mathematical formula based on Nadal's last 12 months on grass (which of course means he had no chance for a bump up) but for Fed/Rafa/Andy to have to plow through 3 of the Big 4 to win is just ludicrous.
I just hope Nole doesn't screw up and get bounced early, leaving the final to be an even bigger debacle than the French was.

Milos is on the easy side. If somehow he doesn't fall on grass and get some sort of game together, he could make a run.

see you there in a month and a half
i'm told all the time about how great Montreal is, so I don't figure it'll be much effort finding things to check out in between matches...even if it's just constant eating.
as for the tennis, I'm relatively delighted at the prices compared to a grand slam...it's actually possible to watch a semifinal without a 2nd mortgage. just hoping the big 4 are all healthy and firing on all cylinders at that point, and it'll be awesome even for just 3 sets max.

Rafa, holy effin crap. Huge dent to his legacy to get run out of Wimbledon in the second and first rounds back to back years. Just maginifies Federer's SF and QF streaks.

I'm not a Fed fan at all, but this does speak to how great he is. Never gets hurt, just consistent as can possibly be. Maybe Rafa's highs are higher than Feds, but Feds lows are so much higher than Rafa's lows it cancels the first point out and makes Fed the better player. Rafa dominates one surface and can't stay healthy the rest of the time. It definitely matters to the greatest ever conversation.

I have to give you props for still showing up...if that happened to Fed, I would probably run away from all tennis forums, sobbing like a little girl.
I've made the comparison before between Nadal and Orr/Lemieux. at their best, untouchable head to head against anyone in the history of their sport. but health is always going to be part of your career story. Wayne is the Great One and Roger is the semi-disputed GOAT because they did it over their whole careers at a high level without getting betrayed by their bodies.
In these conversations I wish more people would make the distinction between Best and Greatest. one is how good somebody is at a given point in time, the other is the sum total of their body of work. I don't mind someone saying that Rafa at his peak could be BOAT, but until Fed's sheer numbers are challenged, I won't give GOAT to anyone else.
