I watched one game and Wahl looked good with the heat. How did he look in the other games? Anyway this is the end for Wahl in the flames organization.

Heat up 1-0 in the second period. Kolanos form Walter and Reinhart.

Heat beat Admirals 2-1. Goals by Kolanos and Carson(PP).
Taylor gets the win.

3 wins in a row. First time since the 13th, 14th, and 16th of November.
Tomorrow, they have the chance to get 4 in a row for the first time this season.

With no more recall waivers, Carson has a shot at proving he belongs at the NHL level with a few more performances like this.

I'm going to have to say tonight was the best game I've seen the Heat play since their season open this season.
They were simply dialled in. Nearly everything was clicking. Carson was very good after his first two shifts. Breen was a beast. All of the forwards played outstanding. Taylor single-handedly saved them the game. It might've been a top 3 Danny Taylor performance tonight.
Just an excellent excellent game all around from the Heat.

Lots of work still needs to be done with the farm.
I hope there are some suprises, but thats how I see it right now.

Well to be fair, Brodie, Horak, Irving and Baertschi all started with the AHL team and are now with the big club. But more importantly, the better prospects in the Flames system right now are all in junior, college or Europe. The farm team will get restocked as players like Gaudreau, Wotherspoon, Sieloff, Brossoit, Gillies, Jankowski, Granlund, Arnold et al make the jump to over the next 2-3 years. Not all of them may pan out but the depth is being rebuilt.

Next year alone we could see Ramage, Wotherspoon, Culkin, Ferland, Brossoit and Elson joining Abbotsford. Also you could possibly add in Gaudreau and Arnold if they decide to go pro.
I really think all 3 of the defensemen could slot in next year. I think Ferland will have a better idea of what being a pro means and show up in good enough shape to secure a 3rd or even 2nd line spot. Brossoit should be the backup. Johnny Hockey could jump right in and be the 1st or 2nd line LW and Arnold the 3rd or 4th line center.
Wouldn't it be fantastic to see Ferland rebound, Gaudreau go pro and have them centered by Reinhart? And a defense corps of Breen/McCarthy (I would like McCarthy back on another AHL deal), Wotherspoon/Piskula, Ramage/Culkin with Martin as the #7. Not that either is likely to happen, but one can dream.

Somehow, it's all that much sweeter that they had a great game at the same time the team playing an hour west of them was crapping the bed so spectacularly.

There were so many people in Canucks jerseys there. I'm sure they were happy with their decision to watch the Heat instead haha.

Anyone else see flashes of Cam Cunning in Turner Elson?

If so, that would be a waste of an NHL contract.
I hope he has better potential than that.
I think the Flames were talking him up like a Kirk Maltby type.

Take this for what it's worth from "He who shall not be named", but Eklund mentioned yesterday that the Flames " have a ton coming" when referring to prospects. (He also said though that the Flames would be doing themselves a favour by falling back this year to pick up that "one key piece".

He meant that the Flames would pick first overall.
I don't see it.

Although I think the Flames should always continue in being the best they can be, even if that means just missing the playoffs (again), at least it makes it a bit more palatable knowing that they can win the 1st over-all pick.
I have been of the opinion (and not just because of the Flames) that the teams closest to the playoffs, but not making it, should be the team that drafts 1st overall anyways. Those bottom teams have usually cleansed themselves out of any half-decent talent by the trade deadline, and lose all interest in competing.
I think (once again) that the Flames not only make the playoffs, but make it easily. Hope I am right.. just a bit better to know that if they fail, at least there is a chance now to try and win, and if not, still get MacKinnon.

Consider the source, but I liked that he mentioned the Flames "have a ton coming" even if it is Mr. Eklund.

Eklund was quite high on Gaudreau during the WJC so it doesn't surprise me.
