Do you just want it to be a bit of fire on the shoulder? Or something that represents the team name AND the city? A firefighters patch sound great to me.

You know our logo already has a tie in with our name....THE GIANT FLAMING C
But in your line of thinking, I believe Vancouver should do a tribute patch to the Marine Centre for Cetacean Research. And have you seen Dallas' patch for the Texas Observatory? The New England Bear Sanctuary anniversary patch?
Its a hockey jersey, not a Scout's uniform, lets leave the badges and gimmics at home please. The flags are bad enough as is.

Are we still even sure there is going to be a 3rd jersey? Think we'd be getting teasers or some sort of fresh news by now. Maybe I missed something though.

Actually, it would be more like Vancouver doing a patch with Johnny Canuck, WHICH OH MY GOD THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE. Whoa nelly! The Blues have had a horn, pretty much the same. If the stars had an observatory or a GIANT telescope as their patch, then that's cool too!
I mean, you do get the basic concept of a shoulder patch right?
You're aware?
You get that just tossing another flaming C on the shoulders is about as grade-school of an idea as you can have?
Why don't you present an idea, instead of trashing the idea of incorporating a FIREFIGHTERS reference into the CALGARY FLAMES jersey. After all, it's not like the horse head is any worse than a CFH logo. I'm not saying it's the greatest idea ever heard, but how about you throw in some sort of constructive criticism instead of "I DON'T LIKE PATCHES THAT MEAN STUFF"
Based on your logic:
Anaheim, Boston, Calgary, Carolina, Chicago, Colorado, Columbus, Dallas, Florida, Los Angeles, Nashville, NYI, Ottawa, Phoenix, San Jose, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Vancouver, Washington, and Winnipeg all have jerseys that look like scout uniforms.
Way to go!

Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. You sound very unhappy.
Anyways, the Flames have a logo that ties into the name, the big C that's on fire. The Canucks have the Johnny Canuck logo because they are the Canucks. The Ducks, Jets, Bruins and everything else has logos that represents their team, not outside organizations and things that relate to the same thing they happen to be named after. There are no Duck Dynasty patches, no Canadian Airforce patches and there is no Bear Preservation patches.
Put a torch, or a dragon or something that generates fire (I'm not saying I want that on our jerseys) not a patch the commemorates the Fire Department.
Should we have a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame patch for the Blue Jackets or a United States Department of Defense Patch for the Capitals? No. How about a music note or a pentagon? Maybe.
My point is that yes, a telescope patch for the Stars wouldn't be a terrible idea but a patch that commemorates and says "the Texas Observatory?" Terrible.

Nobody is saying it should say "Calgary Fire Department"! The point was, something more interesting and creative than "here's a flag".
And Uhhh, regarding the part I bolded....
well....
That one backfired huh?

Oh no, one trump card. But does it say "CANADIAN AIRFORCE" on a patch?
Alright. Do you see any National Hurricane Center patches on the Hurricanes?
Minnesota Forestry Association patches on the Wild? Shark Foundation patches on the Sharks?
The firefighter patch would be terrible for the Flames. Firefighters are paid to PUT OUT fires, that doesn't make any sense.

Actually the black squares that used to line the bottom of the old (superior) Canes jerseys is a reference to the national hurricane warning signal. And their third jersey all out has a flag as their logo.
There's also guitar picks on the Preds jerseys to symbolize the city's music tradition.

Then why the hell is our goal horn a fire truck horn going off if we're trying to avoiding homage to the fire department?

If we were going to have a 3rd for this upcoming season, don't you think we would've heard about it by now? The only rumor I've heard is from Icethetics and that was back in January or February.

Maybe Ken got overwhelmed by the sheer awesomeness of ideas we were sending him and just said...
"Aw, F$%k it, I can't choose one winning design out of all these winners....status quo guys, back to pumping out the dome."

Yes I did, bro.
The guitar pick and hurricane flags don't represent outside organizations. The pick represents music in general, the flag represents a hurricane warning. The firefighter patch would represent people who extinguish flames.
I don't think of "The National Hurricane Center" when I see the hurricane flag, I think of a big impending destructive hurricane.
Again, a torch or just a simple flame lick would suffice. Or maybe the Calgary Tower to represent the city of Calgary as a whole, a landmark people recognize.
As much as people hate the horse head it represented the Western heritage and fire at the same time

Well now you're just arguing semantics. Point is, you're inferring more about having a firefighter themed patch than you're willing to infer about a music pick or a hurricane warning flag.
You don't HAVE to like the idea, but picking apart every logo that could be tied to an outside organisation even though they're ridiculously close to the same thing is just silly.
I just don't get how a flag designed by the National Hurricane Center or a logo designed by the Canadian Armed Forces is different than a logo that could pay tribute to Calgary Firefighters. But whatever you want to justify it with, go crazy.

Joborule is always involved in the EA sports NHL series, and usually has inside info because of that. And a few posts up he said there will be a Flames alternate this year and to "trust him". That likely means EA would obviously be aware of a Flames alternate, as the game comes out soon, and they likely wanted it on the initial release as opposed to a patch later on.
So if he says there's a new Flames jersey, there's a new Flames jersey. If anything that ####### has probably already seen it.
