Florida should be playing OU for the Sugar bowl. There are lots of pissed Florida fans that we now have to play the Ville.

What are you even talking about? You need to read posts more closely before getting offended by something that wasn't even said. I don't know what it is about so many SEC fans, inferiority complex maybe, but any mention of another conference in relation to the SEC and it's full on defensive mode. Bizarre.

btw more on NIU and the embarrassment of them getting s BCS game. NIU lost to Iowa. The best team they played was Kent State, who lost to Kentucky by 33 points and it took NIU 2 overtimes to beat them. Kentucky. By 33. Add in a 5 loss Wisconsin team and the BCS is an even bigger joke this year than it usually is.
|
Kinda tough for the BCS to do anything about that when Wisco went out and won their conference. It's not as if the BCS has the ability to remove the penalties that are in place against OSU and Penn State.

Hard to have an inferiority complex when you're so superior! blam
No jk, I don't really care. I'm just floored that Alabama is going back to the NC game when I fully expected a down year after losing so many defensive starters.
I'll just take my happiness and sit in the corner.

People who aren't from SEC regions don't seem to have this issue, it's resident SEC fans who seem to think that any mention of the SEC that could possibly have a negative connotation requires an immediate nuclear response.

What? That's the exact point I'm trying to make, SEC fans seem to get way too worked up about defending their league. Not even their team, but their league. It's bizarre, especially considering pretty much nobody denies that the SEC is well ahead of the pack.

Get told the schedule for our team is weak "typical SEC non-conference blah blah"
Point out that a lot of other teams have garbage schedules
Get called out for nuclear responses
... what?
No one is worked up here. Your point is apparently irrelevant to this site.

If anyone needs to lighten up it's you, I at no point called out anything you said or pointed a finger anywhere near you, but go ahead and get defensive.
My response was to PIM and his going after the Big Ten because someone dared to mention that the SEC may be weak at the bottom (it is) and that the out of conference schedules are largely garbage (they are). It pretty much sums up my point, anything remotely negative about the SEC gets that response from a lot of the fanbase (note how I didn't say the entire fanbase). I lived in Big Ten territory for years and never saw that sort of defensiveness about the conference, maybe about teams but people weren't going out of their way to try to defend Purdue or Indiana or OSU's games against Youngstown.

Yeah that's crazy for a number of reasons. I have to imagine they threw a lot of money at him, as it's at best a lateral move, and with his complete lack of history in the south possibly a very difficult place for him to recruit and win.

I guess money can pretty much make anyone do anything. At least he proved he's as big a liar as the guy he made this comment about (Urban Meyer). But judging from the reaction of Wisconsin fans, they seem psyched he's gone.

Which is surprising, the program has been pretty strong under him and the 2 guys at the top of the list to replace him aren't exactly long tenured NCAA head coaches. I think part of that fan base jsut couldn't get over the fact that Bielema has a Hawkeye tattoo.

I also think having Alvarez, the godfather of Wisconsin football, still lingering in the background as AD probably didn't help things for Bielema with the fans. Bielema was a good coach, but the fans seem to think Paul Chryst was responsible for bringing in a lot of their top end players, and naturally they want him to return to Wisconsin to be coach. And since he released a statement reaffirming his commitment to Pitt, he's probably as good as gone from the Panthers.

Pitt has sure had a tough run with coaches, it seems like they're either stuck with Wannstedt (gah) or they have guys bail on them as soon as they get the chance.

Manti Te'o Wins More National Awards
Quote:
Te'o has now won six major awards since the end of Notre Dame's regular season, also taking home the Bednarik Award for top defensive player and Walter Camp Foundation player of the year award on Thursday. He became the first defensive player to win the Maxwell Award since 1980, ending a string of nine straight quarterbacks.
|
Te'o has now won 6 national awards surpassing Charles Woodson (five) for the most single season national awards won. He's also been named to the Capital One Academic All-America first team.
Couldn't be happier for him. What a season he and the Irish have had. Next up is the Heisman trophy and then the big game on Jan 7.
Edit Update: Make that 7 National awards. Te'o was awarded the Lott Impact trophy. Although he didn't win the Heisman, he did finish with the most votes for any defensive player. I think it's safe to say he's one the most decorated College Football players of all time. However, even he said he would trade them all in for a crystal ball.

If that's true, they should get ready to be disappointed. Wisconsin has topped out, it will never be a better program than it has been under the last two coaches. They don't pay for assistants and coordinators, and all those top tier OLineman recruits are going to find somewhere else to go now.
with OSU back, Wisconsin will never see the inside of the dome in St Louis for a long time.

I don't imagine OSU will either, seeing as they play the Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis
