No one is happy for all the new fans and the jobs this will create in the area... I guess I am not as empathetic as my dog thinks I am but how many people are losing their jobs? The college arena or team isn't going anywhere. I'd like to think support staff will be asked to relocate, if they don't want to then they gave up their job to stay...that also creates an opening for someone else. But that's just me...

I think there's great potential in Utah for the game to take hold. Players are now coming out of non-traditional sunbelt places.

Economics are a lot different as well. I know. I placed holds on people’s visas for season tickets for the Jets. They went nuts.

Point was and is: looking at the early results of their season ticket buyer results is just as meaningless

They are building a new arena most likely in downtown SLC. The Delta Center renovations are mandated by the NHL.
My allegiant stays with Calgary. I will follow the new team but cheer for the Flames when they roll through.

Don't know if this was posted already, but well spoken send off by broadcaster Todd Walsh for their final game in Arizona:

Real people - and fans - being impacted by this moves really sucks. Hopefully it's not forever, and they will get to watch the NHL again in the desert in the near future; with ownership that provides stability.

They should just go with ‘Utah Generics’. They could wear a plain white jersey, and instead of a logo, these words printed on the front:
Hockey Club

"The Utah Summit" sounds like a Scientology retreat. I'd sooner support a team called Utah HC.

Hilarious seeing Scientology and Mormonism mentioned in the same thread considering how much they've been discussed in the same debates over the years lol
Maybe The Utah Summit is the perfect name

They could take the Cincinnati Stingers' logo and turn it sideways to make a U for Utah.

I actually really like the idea of Utah HC. It's distinctive! Very European.

Whether Utah was their first choice or tenth choice, that’s still a billion dollars that could have been split amongst the other teams.

We already have enough of that nonsense in North American soccer.
My particular pet peeve is teams that call themselves ‘United’ because they think it sounds cool, when they were not actually formed by a union between two clubs. So far as I know, the only professional sports franchise in North America that could legitimately call itself ‘United’ is the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Let the Europeans name their clubs according to their customs, and we can name our clubs according to ours.
