Was disappointed to see AC Mirage is still the same style as the last few AC games. I just can't get into them, prefer the older ones
Yeah I'm not sure what you're seeing, this is actually the opposite. It's much closer in design to AC1 and the AC2 trilogy then the newer games. No RPG leveling, no gigantic environment (still a big-ish open world but not crazy), you're actually an assassin doing assassin things.
I picked it up and am having a great time with it. Some floaty controls and janky enemy AI, but it's fun and not too difficult. The traps and tools are a lot of fun to goof around with, areas are good to explore. A very streamlined AC experience.
Like don't get me wrong, it's firmly a 7.5 / 10 game, but if you like old style AC games I can't see any way you wouldn't like this one.
I could be completely mistaken, I'll admit it's hard to get an impression from videos. Maybe I'll do a deeper dive later. Shame it's not on steam though
Yeah I find Mirage to basically be a love letter to AC1 (or at least giving something to old school AC players who don't like the RPG action game it's become), to a level I wasn't expecting. Granted I'm in the early-going, but combat is extremely dialed back to more resemble AC1, and they shoehorned in what feels like a deliberate 00s version of Eagle Vision.
I actually find the changes rather jarring after playing the previous 3 ACs, I didn't expect them to hit the nostalgia button that hard. I can see newer fans of the franchise not being on board with this one, but I bet the OG fans like it. I'm getting used to it now, but its been an adjustment.
I do remember way back when they added more into AC feeling sad that it lost some of the focus on stealth and assassinations and seemed to drive more towards open combat. I was a guy that would reload if I got caught when trying to assassinate someone.
I do love me some open world goodness of the more recent ACs, but am looking forward to trying this throwback!

I don't think anything will ever top Odyssey in the Assassin's Creed franchise for me. Yes it was super bloated with collectibles, so many side quests were cut & paste, and it went too hard into the RPG stats. But it was just so awesome travelling around ancient Greece, the repetition never got to me since the world was so well made. Also Cassandra is probably the best main character in any AC game save maybe Ezio

I don't know what it is about first-party Microsoft games but the talk about Forza Motorsport is sounding about as divisive as Starfield is. The game has some issues but overall is fun to play and looks great (mostly).
They've made some dumb decisions like not letting you change the length of races in career mode and making you level up a car (meaning drive it a whole bunch) before you can upgrade its components. You don't have to grind to get cars but you have to if you want to make them perform the way you want.
The graphics are a mixed bag. Sometimes it looks great, and sometimes it looks washed out, depending on the lighting. For some reason the dynamic graphics settings (on PC) are tied to resolution: Ultra is 4k; High is 1440p; Medium is 1080p and low is 720p. If you don't know that and you haven't got it set accordingly it will look awful.
I have no complaints about the gameplay, however. I'm having a blast racing. I've only done single player but I've heard multiplayer is much improved, probably because of the penalty system. It's also probably because it's early access for people who paid for the game, and when it goes on GamePass all the kiddies who like to ram and be #######s will show up.
The selection of cars is kind of weird. It's basically the same as FH5 so there are some serious gaps in racing series like GT3. I'm sure that's because they'll slowly add them over time, which is pretty annoying.

I get it.
Very happy they had a more back to the roots story.
Disappointed they used older style mechanics, graphics etc.
The nostalgia is there unfortunately so is everything else.
I mean it was to be expected as Mirage was supposed to be a dlc on Valhalla ,not a standalone game.
It's definitely not pc friendly. Adaptive sync only works for a up to 60fps setting. It's definitely better as a console game.
The game being a Intel arc sponsored game kinda is self explanatory.
That said I like the direction but ... being a sponsored game from a first gen card as a target.. you get why it's not exactly meeting a next gen experience. I was super pumped for this new ac game as I ownball of them but unfortunately, It kinda feels graphically like xbox 360, Orgins outshines it ...
Getting back to ac roots is awesome and I can forgive the game for jank controles if a game is visually stunning but they miss the mark on day one .

My hype level is high for Spider Man 2 and I fully expect it to be my game of the year. I also have a very strong feeling it will be much like Ragnorak and Jedi Survivor where if you like the original then the sequel will be a familiar game with some enhancements over the original.
This has to be the most anticipated PS5 game of the year burning fair to say it is the most anticipated PS game of this generation?

Yeah, it's actually making me consider buying a PS5.
It would be a massive mistake to not make it backwards compatible after all the work that Microsoft and Sony did to ensure theirs were, but this is Nintendo after all. Personally I'd say that if they stick with Nvidia for the hardware then it'll be 100% backwards compatible, but if they go with a different architecture then who the #### knows
