So.....like I'm an old school RPG player. When I say old school I mean like Wizardry and The Bard's Tale type games on my Apple IIe in the 80's. I played RPG's a bit in the 90's but kind of got out of them after that as either they got too difficult/complicated for me or I just didn't have the same attention span I had as a teen/young adult. Likely a bit of both...anyways the point of this long winded introduction is for me to say how completely blown away I am by Baldur's Gate 3. Like my 80's pimply faced teenager self wouldn't have been able to fathom that such a game could even exist. Like I spent hours creating my character and the detail and graphics are insane. Then I went through the opening few sequences and my jaw just dropped. I've barely scratched the surface of the game as I just landed the ship and started exploring. I'm just hoping it's not too difficult and that I will be able to figure it out and enjoy it. Any beginner tips for an old, old, old school RPG player would be greatly appreciated. Thanks my friends

I didn't mind the battle mechanics. What I didn't like was the fact you can only control Clive, and the rest of the party was pretty much useless. And I hated how you can't explore any of the major cities. It was only drab village after drab village that all looked the same.

I'm right there with you, I started playing pen and paper D and D in the early/mid eighties and loved it. Had a strong group of friends that got together most Sundays for a couple of years then i left Calgary and never played pen and paper again.
Then came Baldurs Gate 2: Shadows of Ahm in 2000 and I was addicted to computer RPGs. This game is blowing me away in it's detail. I mean you even decide if you character is cut or uncut(and amount of pubic hair...lol).

I don't really have any tips other than use your search button and to take your time. On the PS5 it's the X button. Small spoiler ahead but it shouldn't ruin anything should you decide to read.
Spoiler!

And make sure you switch to turn based mode if/when you are sneaking up on a hostile group.

Enjoy and don't be in a rush!

Updated Cyberpunk 2077 with the latest 2.0 update. A massive update that changes things around quite a bit, moving it closer to the kind of game it was meant to be upon release. New vehicle attack mechanics, updated AI throughout the game, new menu upgrade features. The list goes on. CDR suggest restarting saved game to get the full benefits. Definitely not going to do that, but played it for a bit last night and already notice a difference.

I probably won't dive into the DLC until it's on sale, but that looks pretty good too.

Patient gamer pays off yet again. I'll continue to wait until the full package is on a good sale, maybe then I'll have a PC that can actually play it half decently as well

I get this, but you just need base a Nintendo Switch Online account which is a paltry $25 / year. A subscription which you would need to play this online-only game anyways.

I will say, it's worth it just for this game alone. F-Zero 99 rocks. Got my first win the other day and it was exhilarating.

I guess they've announced they are going to annual paid expansions now?

Have they managed to figure out how to add one more stash tab yet?

Well I'm pretty hyped for this one. Paradox rarely misses.

Horizon Forbidden West coming to PC in 2024, I guess I should finish the first one.

Dave the Diver is pretty good chill fun. Pixel art game where you go diving/spear fishing in the day, then serve sushi at night with what you caught. There is more complexity than I'm describing but that's the idea.

It's series that I've really enjoyed. Awesome world building, one of the better science fiction stories that I've come across in any media.

Reviews seem great across the board. I like the art style from all that I have seen.

Yeah I was really liking the story but the further along I got I didn't like the combat and monsters that much.. I mean the monsters looked cool but not sure what it was that I didn't like... but if the story is good it's worth giving it another shot.

For me, the point of Horizon Zero Dawn was learning about the backstory reconciling the current world with the past.

With that exposition over and Alloy basically being super-human and just having mad-max adventures in the rest of the world, I don't know if the world warrants another game in my headspace. I just can't seem to get excited about playing the sequel but I loved the storyline in the original - mostly the parts that revealed the secrets of the past. I didn't really care for any of the tribes or conflicts in the current world.

The story of the second one is pretty boring, to the point where I would just skip the cutscenes once I got the gist. It’s an extremely melodramatic game, and by the end of the second one I could barely stand any of the acting.

That said, looks great and is super fun and I’d still play another one if it comes out because it’s fun. But, if you don’t like the combat, skip that #### for sure. The first story was cool and the second is pretty dumb.

I would totally watch a TV series tracking the fall of the Horizon old world and Elon, I mean Ted Faro.
