I hope all those kids in central and southern Alberta who are jumping on the Oilers band wagon are starting to feel regret!

Good luck getting that poop stain on your fandom out.
Those people need to sleep in the bed they made and commit to the next decade of slow and terrible that the oilers are going to be. It's only getting worse from here.

Is Jeff Jackson still a genius or have they transitioned to his fault yet?

The Flames should have a quit and discrete event...
"If you give us all of your Oilers Merchandise we will quietly destroy it and replace it with Flames merchandise...and then no one has to know of your mistakes. We understand...."

It is now readily apparent that the Oilers will finish the month of October behind the Flames in the NHL standings.
And there was much rejoicing.
... Also, the Ducks currently have 2 points on them and a game in hand so it's not actually a sure thing that they'll even get out of the basement by the end of the month.

No we don't. They should live with the shame forever.

I remember 2-9-1 last year with a -19 goal differential
I thought they were cooked then and they ended up 1 win from getting their grubby no good hands on the Cup.
While I'm enjoying it, I'm not getting too worked up about a 2-4-1 start yet
Also, Edmonton is no good

I like the premise, but it requires one tweak

The tiers of fault there usually go goaltender --> coach --> GM --> OBC/Brass
That gives it about a couple months until the wrath of fans and media is at his doorstep.

You forgot depth players, who come after the goaltender.

Don’t forget “value” players. Typically, those are players that outperform their contract for whatever reason.
Once you play for the oilerz though, the fans forget that you signed for league minimum. You get judged based upon their expectations, which inevitably overstates both skills and abilities.
For example, emberson gets traded to oilers for Ceci and a third. Immediately anointed as a Norris candidate and someone who can play top 4 with nurse. He had played 30 games up to that point; 5 games above Calder consideration.
He makes approximately 1/10th of nurse.
Where else in the league would people expect top 4 d for less than a million as an almost Calder candidate to outperform and cover up for a player making 10 times the money?
It’s a poorly constructed team, with poorly managed expectations.

Oh right. The Tobias Rieder stage.
If he just put up 10 goals, they'd have been division champions. The audacity to hold them back!

Yeah but what are they going to do? Fire another coach to get it going? Starting poorly is not a trend you are going to outrun consistently, just like the team having near perfect health all year last year was either.
Edmonton is just no good and the team is due for a harsh reality check.

The media will not likely descend on Nugent Hopkins, Bouchard and Hyman and their combined one goal. They are far more likely to attack Emberson, Stetcher, and Podkolzin for not picking up the slack.

17 game win streak and all time record PK in the playoffs seem unlikely to repeat...especially since they traded their PKers for MOAR GOALS!

The funny thing is. The Moar goals is the trio of Henrique, Skinner, and Arvidson. Who have a whopping 5 points between the three of them through 7 games. Absolutely no good.

The Oilers blew a 2 goals lead and lost in OT while the Flames came from behind and win it in shootout just made my night.
