My brother has a Degenerative Back Disease and Spinal Stenosis. Last year they did a spinal fusion on his neck and this morning he is undergoing a 6 hour operation to install some rods and screws in his lower back. The hope is it will give him some feeling in his right leg and a quality of life. The alternative is being in a wheelchair.

Probably not what you were going for, but that thing looks so cool. Can you take some high quality pictures of it and print a few for him to hang in his home? He can brag and show people high quality pics of the really cool cyborg looking part in him, that improves his quality of life.
The fact that it doesn't look like a biology figurine makes it look super bad ass.

Hopefully the procedure goes well. I had a fusion in my spine a few years back and it made an enormous difference in my quality of life. I'm guessing that his is more arduous and appears to be at more levels than mine, but hopefully the outcome is similar.

Brother has been dealing with this for 4 years now. Has pain in his right leg and at times little feeling in his right foot, which has made it hard for him to walk and keep his balance. Quality of life is definitely what he wants as he had dreams of golfing when he retired. Plus he has same surgeon that did his neck last spring.
How long was your recovery process? Bro says he has 4 months where he can't lift anything heavy.

I never thought of the picture thing. Might do it.

Well I did no bending or lifting or twisting for a year. And by no lifting, that meant almost no lifting of things at all. I was careful because I know of a guy who basically wasn't careful and his fusion was all messed up...and at that point I was told there is really not much they can do for you. I had a disc removed and they put bone in there, which had to grow and fuse the vertebrae together (along with the titanium hardware).
So, they get you up and walking basically right away, but it's a major surgery and you're both tired and feeling it. I started with little 3-5 minute walks after the hospital and progressed from there. I think I missed about a month of work, and a chunk of that was that I wasn't able to drive or things like that.
I would say they didn't do a great jo of preparing me for what to expect though. I read things online about having to be able to live on one floor (no stairs) and things like that. I was definitely worried about how this would go. I did find stairs difficult, but you could manage. You just had to literally go up a step at a time (or down) and kind of get set before the next. It's pretty debilitating, to be forthright.
But good news, it totally worked for me. I'll always have a sore back, and really that's just what I expect. But I can swing a golf club more times in a round than I would like ( ) and I am totally active and doing everything I could before. I had stopped a lot of activities prior to the surgery because it was just too difficult. There's a mental toll that takes as well and I'm sure that your brother is dealing with that as well. But, things get better and with some patience it's a world of difference!

Surgery took longer than expected as he was under for 7 1/2 hours. He's feeling good and can move his legs. Talks to the surgeon late today and hopes to be going home in a few days.

Hopefully your brother makes a full recovery and can start chasing down lost golf balls on the links in the very near future

I may look like a scruffy nerf herder, but you can't deny the booing worked. I just hope the Kings players will be able to recover from that verbal thrashing so they can beat the Oilers tonight.

I’m not understanding the issue - the lady who is an educator expressed what she believes to be true about kids being exposed to Porn in elementary. For myself several decades ago this was certainly true and I know it to still be true today. My own child saw it first hand one day in class when a schoolmate brought up a porno site in the middle of class to much hilarity and terror cos we all know what’s on the side bars of many sites.
So why was this lady forced to resign for this? For speaking the truth that many ignorant parents and others can’t comprehend? Talk about shooting the messenger. I did not take it as this lady endorsed it.

Are you stupid? You know the implication she was making was that the children were being exposed to pornographic materials by teachers.
Quote:
“We, as parents, are in a unique position to protect the innocence of our children yet alarmingly we are seeing increasing instances where kids, even those attending kindergarten, are being exposed to pornographic materials or, worse yet, having teachers help them change their gender identity with absolutely no parental consent or knowledge whatsoever,” Tanner said in the video. “This needs to be stopped immediately.”

I had a roommate who wore it, and never, ever showered. I almost called in a hazmat team to clean the room after she left. So so nasty.

Wow. That was an interesting response. To clarify - I took her quote and article to mean general exposure by other kids and NOT that the teachers were specifically doing it. My response is based on this.
Yes I do know what happens in schools here in Canada. I know several teachers and have family who are teachers plus my own child has expressed concerns many years ago.
Then there’s the teacher down in Florida who showed the nekid Michaelangelo statue with his goods on display and got canned.

Yes kids do see stuff from other students OFTEN plus teachers are forced to teach what is not their belief system (be it straight or otherwise) and the kids pick up on that and mess with that. So many parents and the public are naive. No wonder kids are so confused.

This… isn’t any more clear.
You know several teachers which is relevant how? Your kid has concerns over what?
And what does Michelangelo‘s David have to do with pornography or gender identity?
Regardless, you pretty clearly did not understand her comments, and your notion that she was actually referring to children sharing pornography with each other doesn’t explain why you think the other half of her statement regarding gender identity was “speaking the truth.”
