I’d imagine Moneyhands wants to win now especially with a clean bill of health for the first time in a long, long time. That said he’d be welcomed back with open arms if he choose Calgary!

That'd make sense for him to go after a Cup.

I just half wonder about Salim's "prediction" that there will be a reunion of sorts:

We’ve come this far. Eyes on competing should be 3-4 years down the road.

What’s the benefit of bringing back Monahan

Extending/recreating that culture?

Sharangovich - Backlund - Coleman
Pelletier - Rooney - Coronato

4th line competition includes Pelletier, Rooney, Coronato, Klapka, Hunt, Duehr, Schwindt?
This is why I don’t want debrusk. Want coronato playing up in the lineup.

After being traded and all the turnover on the Flames, I doubt he'd want to come back to Calgary now. That Monahan trade gets even worse with time.

Competition is there for him, and Pelletier.

I don't imagine both of Kuzmenko and Sharangovich are here post-deadline (it still wouldn't surprise me to see Kuzmenko flipped soon'ish).

I'm not opposed to a Pelletier - Veteran - Coronato line. Get away from that traditional trash 4th line we typically roll, and just let some kids get experience and then even cycle them into PK and PP roles.

This. If you have a young 4th line that you give sheltered offensive minutes to then you can work them into the lineup that way.

I still think the name Salim was hinting to was Tanev...which would be hilarious if the Leafs traded for his rights and he still came back to Calgary.

As much as I would hate to see Tanev with the Leafs, the rumoured contract is probably too good to pass up, especially since he's a local. And I hate the Leafs more than I like Tanev, so that means I hope he never gets a Cup.

Hi Royle. It sounds like Conroy put the word out to all GMs saying they want to take in contracts that come with picks. Do you know if anything is up?

Apparently Dube is close to signing with the KHL's Dynamo Minsk.

Apparently he could have signed for more money and with a better team, but because the trial is scheduled to take place during the 2nd round of the KHL playoffs, the top teams didn't want him.

I think the Flames are going to bring in DeBruskh and Duclair. I think they're going to try and find a more seasoned center for depth.

Huberdeau-X-Duclair
Debruskh-Sharangovich-Kuzmenkho
Coleman-Backlund-Coronato
Pelletier-Y-Pospisil

Depending on who is brought in at center I could see Zary fitting in either the X or Y positions. If it is a Stephenson/Teravainen, then Zary goes Y. If it is a depth center they may try Zary in the Bennet role between Huberdeau and Duclair and try and rekindle some magic. The nice thing about the Flames' situation, they can make that gamble and it really doesn't matter.

Seems like we are just going to sign our own bad contracts. Jake Debrusk being 1.

I see zero problem with a 4 year, $6.25M AAV on DeBrusk.

Trade Mangiapane (gain 2nd round pick) + signing DeBrusk, who is taller, heavier, and has produced far more consistently than Mangiapane had.

THe Flames should offer players lots, as long as it doesn't interfere down the road with when they hope to be better.
