I just think I need to finish DoS2 before I get into BG3. I played through a large chunk of it a couple of years ago, then had to pause because other stuff got in the way, and by the time I got back to it months later I'd forgotten where I was in terms of what I was doing and why and what was going on story-wise. So I just couldn't get back into it.
It's a long game, and a very good game (everything just works), so I do want to get through it... the thing is it isn't really a game where you can play it in easily digestible chunks; i.e. jump on for 2-3 hours in an evening and progress a quest and then log off and do the same a few days later. It calls for building up momentum. Is the BG3 pacing similar?

It feels like Divinity Original Sin 2 with a Forgotten Realms coat of paint. I'm a huge fan of both BG & DoS franchises, but the game doesn't feel like a true Baldur's Gate. Which is fine! I can play Pillars of Eternity or Pathfinder to get my fix. BG3 is easily my GOTY.
It isn’t a true BG game / different from sequels . But wow is the ability check and cut screens a massive innovation in the genre and amazing for games like this going forward
I only played maybe 10 hours of DOS2 and it never really sunk its teeth into me like BG3. I'm almost done Act 1 in BG3 and keep craving more. Seems like a more refined DOS2 to me with DnD rules. I honestly love running around with my virtual D20 in the game doing checks on things.
DOS2 felt at times like a 'slog' with regards to combat, too. And BG3 uses DnD 5e ruleset so it's easier for most people to get into. I've played about 50 hours of DOS2 but I'm already at 77 hours in BG3.
Still like DOS2 however, it's just more tedious imo. There are a LOT of mods you can get for DOS2 to make the game better, though.
Lol Ship Graveyard Simulator 2.. basically you break down big ships for scrap.
I have no idea why I'm a sucker for these games but I lose HOURS in them. Powerwash Simulator was the best/worst.
Did you ever play Hardspace Ship Breaker? Would definitely be up your alley, and iirc one of the lead devs is a Calgary guy. Studio from Vancouver I think

My cat Oskär loves watching me play Stray. I'll usually hit the 'meow' button a few times to summon him to the couch and then he just watches in intrigue. He used to watch me play it using Nvidia Gamestream until Nvidia decided to be a bunch of stupid dicks and discontinue the biggest reason I bought a Shield TV Pro in the first place.

clearing my PS4 backlog, so I've started Hollow Knight. Not super into Metroidvania games, but this is fun so far. Testing my patience though, I just flat out suck at this lol.
I played Hollow Knight Void Edition during covid - it was out for a long time, but I never picked it up as I wasn't too into the indies at the time.
Stunning game. Hard to believe is was a team of 3 people that funded the game through Kickstarter. Beautiful music, great game play...
I haven't beat the last two bosses, so I gave up, but that is such a great game. Looking forward to the sequel
