I do think it is rather pointless to hear the same congratulatory remarks from 31 teams, but it sure is interesting when there are a couple of teams that don't say it. I hate Montreal, but having Celine there was awesome. Buffer was fantastic too.
I bet the NHL goes back to in-person drafts. They are just so much better I think. I will keep my mind open for next year and see what that looks like, but i doubt that I will enjoy it as much as the in-person format.

I think they’ll be looking for the following on 2-3 year contracts:
- 2nd line center
- 3/4 slot D
- vet goalie for the wranglers as a safety net
They at least need to make the cap floor.

Monahan and Weinberg are probably the only two UFA C’s that might fit the 2C role.
Personally, I see it the same way as CZ. Debrusk, Dumba, and a G. Maybe Chris Driedger.

Regarding Kylington, at first after reading these comments I came away thinking he did the Flames wrong. But after thinking about it, guys like him may not have a long career at all. He has certain tools that any team could take a flyer on to see if he works out, which is what's intriguing about him. But if he has limited time to cash in on any contract to maximize his earnings, most of us may explore those things. Plus, if he's had mental challenges, perhaps going to a sunny place is something he's considering. Anyway, all conjecture and speculation, but it sounds like he's negotiating which is good, but I wouldn't blame him for exploring other things. He's not going to make or break this or any other team, so all good if he decides to walk - it sucks but it's a business as we all know.

Westjet strike causing havoc on travel home, what an absolute joke of a company.
Flames very happy with the draft and how it went.
Flames tried to move into 4th for Demidov but Columbus didn’t want to drop back to 9th. Then tried to leapfrog both Utah and Ottawa because they had suspicions both wanted Tij. Montreal wanted a fortune (multiple 1sts) but ultimately coveted Demidov and took him.
Yakemchuk curveball opened it right up, caught multiple GMs off guard. I asked if he was on the flames list and was told he was a mid round pick for them.
Absolutely shocked that Parekh fell, thought he would be the 2nd D taken.
Flames really thought they were getting a forward, sounds like Catton was their pick when Tij went off the board, but Seattle took him.
Flames told Gridin they were taking him with their 2nd first if he was there. Almost traded up for him in the low 20’s but price was high, got him anyway!
Won’t beat the horse anymore on Basha, Misa, Mews but shocked they were all there and got them. All very high on their list.
Believe they got the best goalie, thought he would be the first one gone. Sigalet wanted to take him in the 2nd.
Expect flames to be very active July 1st.
Main targets remain: DeBrusk, Dumba, Copley & Duclair
Centre depth an area to watch.
Kylington contract stalled - believe the hang up isn’t money but term.
Don’t expect to see A.J back

So, Flames seem to be a lock for Jake DeBrusk, rumoured to be in on Matt Dumba, and connected to some goalies (Phoenix Copley?).
I'm on board with all of that stuff, and then there's the one thing that my heart loves...if Sean Monahan could come back.
If there was an opportunity to retain on Kadri, extract some decent value...and sign Sean Monahan? That's probably my dream outcome for tomorrow to put a cherry on top of what is probably my favourite weekend of Flames news since we drafted Matthew Tkachuk.
As-is, the DeBrusk, Dumba, and depth goalie sounds like a nice bit of business.

Why would Monahan come back? He should go somewhere with a chance to win.

I don’t really see the point of DeBrusk myself. Not going to make or break anything but I’d sooner see more room left for the likes of Pelletier to play up in the lineup.

Would the Islanders give us a high pick to take on JG Pageau? 2 years left at 5MM and I read possibilities of buyout. Seems like a guy you can get a 2nd for at next years deadline too.

It seems to be one of those things that's already a lock (and rumoured to be 4 years, ~$6.25M AAV)
DeBrusk - Kadri - Pospisil
Huberdeau - Zary - Kuzmenko
Sharangovich - Backlund - Coleman
Pelletier - Rooney - Coronato
4th line competition includes Pelletier, Rooney, Coronato, Klapka, Hunt, Duehr, Schwindt?

I will inquire on Monahan later today, though would Sean even want to come back? I’d wager he’d rather chase a cup no?

I don’t think it’s about the skill set, necessarily …I think it’s simply about surrounding the young players with quality vets that demonstrate the character they want.
