I almost hope they do, I don't think they can replace his production for cheaper.
Interesting how many teams wanted to trade up for Iginla, when some here thought the Flames would be overreaching at #9.

Sounds like the rapists from team Canada will be free agents. They will be Oilers in short order.

Lots of teams think Nashville will be very aggressive for Stamkos
Indications Duchene will sign an extension with Dallas
Leafs will be offering Tanev at least 6 years to spread out the AAV
Expected that Tanev will sign with Leafs
Leafs will have competition with Boston on Zadorov
Rumors the Oilers have asked Evander Kane to waive his NMC but as of Saturday that has not occurred
Not sure what is going on with Trouba,
Was told by some people that the Rangers were pushing it a long and Trouba would be willing to go to Detroit
Now been told that it is much more a challenge than initially thought and people are getting ahead of themselves
Hard on Trouba, Rangers may have decided that they need to do this for cap reasons but Trouba wants to stay.
Trouba might make his no trade list strategic so that he lists teams most likely to trade for him
Friedman wonders if Trouba doesn't waive no trade, Trouba might end up on waivers like Goodrow
Blue Jackets discussed trade involving 4th OA and Marting Necas.
Got to the point that BJs made a contract offer to Necas with the permission of Hurricanes but it didn't get done.
Chicago offered an unprotected first next year as part of the package for 4th OA, Flyers tried to trade up to 4th OA - It was all about Demidov, everyone knew Montreal was going to take him
Everyone is now questioning if the Canes keep Necas now that they appear to have lost Guentzel
Lots of teams tried to trade up to get Tij Iginla including Calgary
Believes Ottawa would have taken Tij if Utah did not.
A lot of interest in Askarov
Preds looking for an established player or a high ceiling prospect that is not a goalie
Couple of cases where the Jets were close to trading Rutger McGroarty
Wild where in on him, but backed out when Buium was available at 12 and Guerin wanted to use their pick

I have a feeling this isn’t the last time Conroy will be making a push to get Tij. Whether that’s in a trade, an offer sheet in 4 years, or as a Ufa as soon as possible

Alive. Holding on by a skate blade tho.
Busy week.
We hit a grand slam in this draft. Whiskey and beers aplenty for the home team.
Also too all those that chanted “Oilers Suck” on Friday. We could hear you loud and proud. What doorknobs making that deal.

Fun fact (that everyone knows)
Iggy wasn’t drafted by the Flames either

I hope that the Utah team that plays hockey signs Iginla immediately, he makes the team this September, and make him eligible to be a UFA by the age of 25. If Tkachuk can do, Iggy can!

You also want him to play for the Panthers? Because he won’t be coming here after playing in Salt Lake City

Hey sec, any info on why literally no team congratulated the Panthers on their Cup win? Seemed weird, IIRC it's something that usually happens like clock work.
I really would have loved it if Conroy would have made a point of it, given who they beat, and it would have really been funny if the Flames were the only team that did.

15. To tighten the draft, the NHL leans on teams to cut down the pre-selection welcomes — shouting out the hometown party, congratulating the Stanley Cup champ, etc. In the first round, no one mentioned Florida. I’ve never seen that before. And one Panther reached out to say he thought it was an absolute joke.

Well, they saved the time for Celine Dion and Michael Butler. I thought both were great.
Betman should have congratulated the Panthers and that’s enough. We don’t need to hear from everyone.

I don't think so. I always got tired of every team congratulating the Cup champs and saying hi to the draft party. It should have been done once to open the draft and then everyone just make their picks.

F: A middle 6 center makes a lot of sense, but I don't see a fit. Monahan on a 1 year overpay maybe? Noesen is my pick for a winger, Arvidsson remains as wishful thinking.
D: My money is on the Flames going after a LD, probably OEL or M. Reilly. With a close 2nd for either Cole or Martinez on a 1-2 year contract. Gostisbehere could be an interesting option on a 4 year contract if we're going to trade Andersson.
G: Subban. I think he's going to be a decent enough insurance. Or get Campbell for a haul, hopefully a 1st + Broberg + ?.

My theory is that the NHL asked them to cut down on the congrats to Florida, because their darlings didn't win the cup. We all know the NHL and top media guys were drooling over the chance of McDavid hoisting the cup.
I can guarantee if the Oilers won the cup, we would have had to hear congrats to McDive over and over.

Seeing Celine Dion Was awesome.

Yeah, it was unusual but I don't think it was bad. Having 31 teams all say the same thing seems really pointless.
I really liked that they limited numbers to 3 - having 20 people up there to make a pick was stupid.
One question though: why did they have a podium there, if everyone just stood in front of it anyway?
