They'll never agree on a person, they'll never agree on a format. And if they by miracle do, then they'll go to the Liberals who will simply turn it down.
Which is why they should call that bluff. Agree on both even if it's not a big political win for you as quickly as possible and put the ball back in the LPC's court right away so that the news cycle continues to run with this, which IS a big political win for both CPC and NDP. If they then immediately say "no", they look terrible. Again.

Pretty good final speech by O'Toole. A lot of his core message could be directed straight at Poilievre, and he even calls out the WEF conspiracy stuff.

O'toole supporting Ukraine and standing up like an absolute Boss. Conservatives would be a shoo in if he had kept to his principles and kicked out the fringe.

I can’t believe people voted for Trudeau over this guy.
Ahhh…
He wasn't a great option even back then. Shows you just how bad the CPC has degenerated into whatever that smoldering pile is today if O'Toole looks great on his way out.
Justice Russell Brown suddenly announced he's retiring from the Supreme Court almost 20 years before the mandatory retirement age. Kind of unexpected, but it's presumably related to the altercation he was involved in in Arizona in January. His retirement will end the investigation into that:
Quote:
Russell Brown announced Monday he's stepping down as a justice of the Supreme Court of Canada effective immediately — a move that comes after the Canadian Judicial Council (CJC) began probing a claim of misconduct directed against Brown related to an incident in the U.S.
Brown's decision to step down from Canada's top court means the CJC's investigation of an alleged alcohol-fuelled incident in Arizona will come to an end without any sort of public report on the matter.
Under the federal Judges Act, the council has a duty to investigate complaints made against federally appointed judges. Now that Brown has resigned, the council said, that work will stop.
Brown has been on leave for months since reports surfaced that the judge got into some sort of confrontation with patrons at a high-end Scottsdale-area resort at the end of January.
I have no trouble here saying that Keane Bexte is at least smarter than you, so good on you for quoting someone smarter than yourself.
Now, Keane is less intelligent than your average earthworm, and significantly more slimy. But keep on trying! Remember, you're only as good as the people you hang out with most, and the people you hang out with are the lowest of low.

Erin O’Toole gets standing ovation in farewell address to parliament.
Quote:
Erin O’Toole leaves the House with a warning about division for Trudeau, Poilievre and his own party
…“Performance politics is fuelling polarization. Virtue signalling is replacing discussion,” Mr. O’Toole said. “And far too often we are just using this chamber to generate clips, not to start national debates.”
And if that was a general warning to all around him, there were others undoubtedly aimed at MPs in the Conservative Party he once led – including for pandering to conspiracy theories about the United Nations or the World Economic Forum rather than calling them out.
“If we do this more, we are allowing others to define the debate for us and risk allowing others to set the course for this country, because too many members on all sides of this chamber – and from time to time I have been guilty of it myself – are becoming followers of our followers when we should be leaders,” he said.
… “If we are not careful, there will soon be a generation of young voters who have never even heard a point of view different from their own,” Mr. O’Toole said. “I fear the ignorance of the views of others will slowly transform into a dislike of others, and we can see that starting to happen.
Not to derail, but what are the conspiracy theories about the UN that O'Toole referenced? I know of the WEF ones, but I didn't know the UN was also viewed that way.

An honest, pragmatic, and intelligent look at what’s wrong with Canadian politics and what’s wrong with the Conservative party from someone who is one of the most qualified people to lead both in a decade.
No wonder the Cons booted him.
