Anyone can be enticed to do (almost) anything, but I don’t want to give them what they would want.

Why are we trading for a 34 year old making north of $8M when we have 21 year old Tkachuk to sign and are already in a tight cap spot?
So definitely still a pipe dream

Getzlaf is a great player who I've always liked, despite his team. But he's 33, plays a hard game, has been injured, has an $8.25 cap hit for 2 more years after this and has a full NMC (I suppose there's a chance he'd waive for Calgary but I bet he's pretty settled in California).

Why would they simply give their leader away?
They might trade him if they truly want to rebuild, but with only 2 more years left on his contract, it would be costly.

After listening to the latest ep of Spittin' Chicklets, I kinda want Kevin Hayes for a rental 3rd line C. Seems like he would be a good fit on the squad, and has always impressed me with his play.
Buyers Market, what would the Rangers want for him?

Granted, I don't know much about Hayes, but do we need/want another 3rd line C?
If the flames have aspirations of making a big time upgrade for a deep run, I would hope they are targeting a more "sure fire" 2nd line player, from a productivity perspective.

I could actually see Getzlaf waiving to come finish with a Canadian team and take a couple runs at the cup. But could not see Anaheim dealing him in division, and making the money work would be real real tough if not impossible. 16 mil going each way would be Neal at 4 mil per season (1.85 retained) and Getzlaf's full hit of 8x2. Flames could fit him him this year on that kind of deal but would cause major problems next year with Tkachuk's bonuses and how tight the space is. Plus Anaheim would want a king's ransom to take on Neal even retained and give up Getzlaf in division. I think in a deal like that they'd not only want most of the Flames high end futures but probably a young roster player with a high ceiling like Janko.

Along with previously reporting the Oilers and Pens interest in Ferland, Friedman on NHL Network says the Canucks are interested in Ferland but maybe only take a run at him in free agency instead of trying to trade for him now.

Hayes can play top 6 RW. I think he would be a great pickup.

Jakob Silfverberg feels like the perfect deadline addition for the #Flames.
Likely won’t cost a 1st rounder, can play up and down the lineup and was a reliable goalscorer until this year. A Frolik with offence, if you will.

Does Hayes have a NTC? If so might be tough for the Flames since he seems picky about where he plays, he rebuffed Chicago for New York and Calgary certainly isn't Chicago. Maybe him and Johnny being boys from their Boston College days would help though.

Eklund just blogged that the oilers looking at Silverberg & hayes. Also, that talbot+1st for nylander could be a thing.

Even if he is, he is a UFA this summer and besides the BC Gaudreau connection he is also cousins with Tkachuk. Can't see Hayes coming here for a cup run being an issue

He doesn't have a NTC.
Also a little known fact about Hayes is that he and Matthew Tkachuk are cousins (2nd cousins I believe).
But in the end he is probably a pure rental. I have heard that the Hayes prefer to stay on the east coast to be close to their parents who are both cancer survivors.

The way some of you still think about Bennett is filled with unjust negativity.
Kent Wilson’s latest article on The Athletic paints a much different picture, and so does Bennett’s play this season. Blinded by some bad years under Gulutzan and an inability to disconnect your draft position expectations from the player he is today and the player he is on track to become?

I am a fan of Silfverberg and he seems to always do well when I watch. I would be okay with acquiring him to play with Backlund and Tkachuk. I doubt the Ducks trade him within the division though.

Wouldn't mind him on the third line, but "a Frolik with offence"? I don't think that is accurate at all.

I am not sure its negativity. I didn't like him in the off-season but he has done well and I think could be a great 3rd line guy. I think most on here are saying that you shouldn't pay a premium to sign a guy who is on pace for 30 points despite playing a bunch with Backlund and Tkachuk. He should be paid like a 3rd liner and if he wants more, look at trade options.
