It's possible they might have filmed his parts for that already. Especially if it actually was a "mutual agreement".

What a joke this show has become this season.

No way it gets picked up for a fifth season.

Also, good bye Parks and Rec, I am 95% sure you're next.

Sooo why'd they let Harmon go over Chase only to part ways with Chase anyways? It's like the Flames trading Savard and then firing Gilbert right after.

An episode hasn't even aired!!! And it was long gone a long time ago so it's really not a shock or should come as any surprise. I'm still excited for this season, especially with almost 95% of the season having Pierce.

To be fair, Harmon pretty much crushed that rumor right away that it had anything to do with Chevy, and more of himself being a liability.

Fair enough. Why was Harmon considered a liability? Excuse my ignorance as I just got into the show a few months ago. I was disappointed and surprised to learn it was on the verge of cancellation

No problem. Harmon did not have the strongest reputation with the network, on one side he was an artist fighting for his art. Talked about how he threatened to quit dozens of times, especially to get the Dungeons and Dragons episode on air. He did have a really big ego and has been known to be really tough to work with, he called himself a liability a few months later after the firing, and said he understood where the Network was coming from for someone like him on a show making such little money. He also talked about how him and Chevy left on really good terms, and it's just a case of them both being two big children.
I do tend to side with Harmon, especially in these days studios and networks pushing the creative people away and the money makers taking over, but he did come off as a huge A-hole a lot of the times.

His legacy is still intact as Community will live on for a long time after it's done this season.

Agreed. I really enjoy the show show. And honestly, ending early isnt necessarily a bad thing. A lot of comedies jump the shark after 5 or 6 seasons. The same shtick can only last so long.

It would be great if it got to 100 episodes. Thats all I really want.

My big hope is that, because Comedy Central just recently bought syndication rights, they'll pick up the show for a shortened 5th season and get it to 100.

Or you know... 12 seasons and a theme park...

It's funny to think of a show like Community not reaching 100 episodes as being ended way too early when you consider that both the Office (UK) and Extras got 12 episodes each.

Love Community and wish it weren't ending, but thankful for what we got.

I'm surprised Chase stayed for so long. He's been extremely vocal in his dislike of the show. I think he said once the only things keeping him around was the paycheck and the other actors.

I was just reading over some of the comments on the different articles out there regarding Chevy's departure and there are some seriously delusional people.

"Chevy is correct. The show is not funny and is poorly written. I was surprised that Chevy stayed on as long as he did. He has amazing talent that is wasted on this show."

"Community is a juvenile show that appeals to the lowest common denominator. You may as well just have a bunch of people telling fart jokes for a half hour every week."

Now, I don't have any issues with people saying the show isn't funny, to each their own, but to say that the show is poorly written is absolutely ridiculous. I can't think of a single comedy with better writing. Even the classics like Seinfeld and Friends didn't have writing that matches the creativity and development of Community.

Most comedies resort to basic "set them up and knock them down" joke telling, annoying laugh tracks, easy-out flashbacks and mockumentary cut-aways. Only Community could pull off jokes that build over multiple episodes and even seasons.

I think I'm too obsessed with this show...

It sounds like they've already shot the season finale (which Chevy will be in) and the episodes they have left to shoot will air before the finale, so that should make it easier to write around Chevy.

I don't know if there have been any previous episodes that he wasn't in at all, but there have certainly been ones where his role in the episode was minimal.

Friends is not a classic, and is one of the worst shows ever. Sorry can't let that slide.

I would say Arrested Development had as good if not better writing, IMO.

Never got a chance to watch it but I probably will now that it's on Netflix (or suppose to be?).

Yeah! Get to it now fellow Polak! Community was like Arrested Development replacement therapy for me. I needed an awesome clever comedy to fill the void.
....and everyone should also watch Better Off Ted, another one cancelled too soon.
