I hope we go with this next year.
Hopefully kylington can take that next step. He looked aweful when paired with Anderson after deadline . Not his fault . Don’t think he was ready to be playing that high on lineup but really had no choice.

As of right now I see a #2 and #3 in weager and Anderson. The rest seem to be bottom pairing dmen. That’s not to say kylington and miomanov can’t make the next step.

Conroy won his very first trade as a GM, so yeah ... dumb take is dumb.

I don't have a very positive view on the work of the Athletic.

What was once a really good publication has been watered down to a tire fire with incredibly stupid takes.

Who doesn't consider the Lindholm trade as a clear W for Conroy?

What we HAVE to win is our drafting and developing.

Every trade has brought in significant draft assets.

That's a hilarious take considering he clearly won the Toffoli and Lindholm trades.
  1. Sharangovich scored pretty much just as well as Toffoli, is six years younger, cheaper, and signed for another year.
  2. Kuzmenko, the third most valuable piece the Flames got for Lindholm, has more points since the trade than Lindholm does (playoffs included).

Duha had a pretty fair take on it. He thought the return was probably better at the deadline but the Flames did well given the circumstances now.

Sean Gentille has like 900 followers on his social media and is a senior writer. The athletic is now comparable to the work by the Win Column, another joke.

These are like fan blog websites.

Kind of a weird take. The Win Column is fairly decent.

That's just nuts. He cleaned up on Lindholm, Zadorov and did well for Hanifin and Tanev. Only one of whom got re-signed by the other team (so far). And he also won the Toffoli trade IMO. NJ has a 2nd and 3rd, Calgary has Sharangovich and a 3rd (Suniev).

I pay what $10/month for the Athletic and never read it.

One of many useless subscriptions of mine.

You've been had. You can usually get a promo subscription renewal for $10-15/year if you keep an eye out around your renewal time.

Reads like fans who expect top prospects for UFAs which is odd given they are professional writers

?? They don't think the Flames won the Lindholm trade?? That one is a slam dunk for sure.

Both are equally terrible, but the Athletic is a sub service that churns out Articles from unaccomplished writers.

Listening to Steinberg interview Bahl right now. These can be enjoyable but if I had one complaint it's they keep these guys on the line far too long. Trying to drag comments out of them. Gets a touch cringey at times.

Also, most Flames fans thought he would be traded with 50% retained.
Yep and he was much closer to the fleury price than the schneider price.

37th overall is the estimated cost of 4 mill. That more than cancels out Bahl.

And a 2025 1st (minus slightly) is actually significantly closer in value to nothing (Fleury) than it is a top 10 pick.

Anyway, enjoy Mercer, Holtz, Top 10 pick, and not having to retain. Oh wait

a 2025 1st is closer to nothing than a top 10 pick, so it might as well be nothing. great logic mate

Then go ahead trade Coleman if you think he’s worth that. You can find a vet to replace him later if you really think it’s necessary.

And let’s be honest, it never works like you’re describing. Sign an equivalent or better player for cheaper money and then trade the older more expensive guy for a return.
