Have to think this is a combination of retention partner and extension being worked on between Vegas and Hanifin’s agent. They may have not had permission to speak to him prior to the deal being consumated, so perhaps the return hinges on that dialogue. Pretty unique scenario, either way. Not too often you see a trade break and then go deadly silent for hours like this. When it has happened in the past, the deal has ended up not going through. Curious to see how it plays out.

NJ was trying to earn some points with the Flames to come down on the Markstrom price.
This time, teams out West don't want to help out Vegas, and or, a team that may be interested wants something more than is being offered for the ~$1.2M favour they are doing the Vegas and the Flames.
